Just as an aside, and I know that countries, sometimes even independent of their values & core culture, develope rules which just plain vary. But Americans are a particularly independent lot, and do not like to be told what they cannot do, contrary to the constant bombardment of the "It takes a village" folks. In any case, I have never been asked when applying for car ins. if my car had any modifications. The only ones who seen to use their electronic nannies to deny us warranty coverage along these lines are the manufacturers themselves; but that is purely economics. Over & out & may God bless, Matt

Have you tried Adrian Flux?

I use then to insure my elan and only pay in the region of £400. Prior to this I used them for my Elise and they were very cheap for this as well.

Nick

I have a piece of crap Cavalier insured with them that has built up a little no claims so I'm just going to transfer it to the Elan for the last 6 months. This should get me another years no claims and hopefully I will have fled London by then to less risky parts of the country in the eyes of insurers

Admiral - Thatcham 1, 3000 miles, garaged, no no claims (due to trader's policy) £450. Pretty good me thinks.

For 3 reasons -

1 - I don't like to put too many miles on the car
2 - To work and back is 60 miles where parking is not great
3 - It's a hell of a lot cheaper travelling that distance each day in a weasy wiesel!

p.s. Not just a Sunday driver - I have been known to use it on the occassional Saturday too :P (and in the week when the sun be shining)
Just for interest, I have had 3 quotes so far;

29, 1 ongoing claim last 3 years, no points, 5or6000 miles, Cat1 A&I, MK43 area, garaged, inc. brother 27, 1 accident at fault last 3 years, 3points SP30;

Footman James 0845 458 6790 - Renewal £534.90 (6k miles)
Classic Line 01455 639035 - quote - £407.50 (5k miles)
Firebond 08704 440556 - quote - £395.00 (6k miles)

James (High Performance Direct) - sent you my details but never heard anything back?

Think I will be moving to Firebond!!

I have just increased my limited mileage policy with Footman and James from 3000 miles to 4500 miles per annum. I have paid an extra £65 for this bringing the total to £450.
Now to some i know this may sound reasonable, but for a relativley old geezer, aged 37, with full no claims, zero points/convictions, and garaged it seems a bit pricey to. especially after speaking to another elan owner at the weekend, who is with Liverpool Victoria , and pays £330 (iirc) for fully protected, fully comp, unlimited mileage, similar age (sorry Mark :lol: )
So, old geezer phones Liverpool Victoria expecting some pleasant news, and gets quoted an astonishing £734 ! WTF ! What am i doing different???

Looks like i'll be sticking with Footman and James afterall. they are actually a very good company, and offer a guaranteed payout of an agreed value, and the price includes recovery and green card.

The grass is always greener on the other side?
Is it bolox!
