I will not supply this update unless you have purchased a kit with an earlier version from me in the past." Since I, personally, didn't buy it may I upgrade anyway? I don't mind sending in the v4.2 chip as proof, as I can just run off the factory-spec ECU in the interim.
Alan, Everest v4.5 1499 purchased via your site today.

Just installed the V5 with switcher. Install instructions a piece of cake. Now I just need to drive it to see how it goes.

Ran nicely but had overboost cut in when on map 7. Assume related to the larger exhaust on the car. Dropped to 4 and all OK. Will slowly push back up and see how I go.

jecuk,
At one time Andrew had both an Everest chip and a MBV on the car (he was investigating if the MBV could be used in conjunction with the chip to get over lag effects). This is not something to be advised if you don't know what you're doing (some would say, even if you do know).
Perhaps you had better check that the MBV has been removed or is set closed.

Thanks John. I will take a look. He never mentioned it but then again maybe he did and I forgot.

So, I assume that is what the attached little beauty is. Will just need to take out the valve and then hope the hose has enough length to connect.

That's the one. A bit large and agricultural, but easy to spot.
Don't know if it's open or closed, but as a first attempt at curing boost creep, I'd remove it.

It is removed. Just soaking it in some WD40 to see whether it was open or closed.
Edited: On blowing through it, there is a leak from the bottom so looks like it is set to dump some pressure.

After trying this out today, without the MBC, the car seems to run fine on map 7. Obviously it was just creating too much boost with the leak. As soon as I get an elanscan interface, it will be interesting to see the performance on screen.

If the MBC was inducing a leak, it is reducing the pressure on the wastegate actuation capsule which means the wastegate opens less - you therefore get more boost and/or the ECU cannot control boost creep and you get fuel cutout even at the higher level that the V5 settings allow. Effectively, the MBC is reducing the size of your wastegate and we know from experience that a big/free flowing exhaust is likely to require wastegate porting.
Of course, one advantage of the V5's are that the air fuel ratio is correctly and accurately mapped. under all conditions which is unlikely to be the case with the MBC.

Good catch John.
The current chips don't have much much lag because they put a lot of opening on the BCFV instantly when the ECU enters boost control mode. The opening applied is around the amount I expect that will the target boost value on a standard car (the closed loop control then actively tunes the duty cycle to get exactly the right boost). So any MBC will almost certainly cause cut.
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to sit on your arse with a blank look on your face.
Click on my WWW link for information on chips and ElanScan.

The beuty of the switcher chip is you can run whichever of the programmes you want. From .4 bar boost max (the normal wastegate opening pressure) to .95 bar with the Elysium programme.

Yep. Fits nicely doesn't it?
I believe that pic is of Enright's Elan.
Some others have their switcher on the centre console, where the air con button would otherwise be.

Good spot Rip.
When I first saw the picture I thought "cool - someone chose the same position as me. Oh and they've got the same fault code switch. And the same stereo. Hang on!"
XiPHiAS, which program you use entirely depends on your mood.
You should get a list of which program gives what boost setting. Then:
If you are leaving your car with a garage and you suspect that they may take it out for a spin, turn it down to minimum.
Going for a spirited blast or on a trackday? Turn it up to the max.
It's up to you.
