i have a problem of finding where the MAP sensor socket is located. i know some of you have described where it is in words and the manual gives a pic but i cant seem to figure it out which one it actually is. even my mechanic couldnt find it. any pics of the location of this please or an idiots guide of a diagramme .

Not strictly an answer but the replacement (assming you have already got hold of one) should look the same as (or very similar to) the original.
Given that it measures inlet manifold air pressure, so will have hoses connected to it & be somewhere around the back of the engine.

If you follow the pipe from the white take-off connector which Sy refers to, it will lead you to the MAP sensor on the bulkhead as Monty correctly states.
Its easy to spot on mine - but then again, I've got no engine in the way at the moment

So its inside the dash . Monty According to the manual pic its just near the midle bit of the dash. can you access it through the front engine bay.

according to Sy's pic The second white round housing close the DOHC. i think on mine is sealed at one end . its also been looks like galvernised. donno why this is like this . ill try to get a pic tommorrow and load . looks very stange . one emd of the tube stops cut short and blocked with a nut. does this meant to go some where . and also arounf white circle housing is covered like a patch job.

OMG!!! Its easy to find!! Its on the firewall just behind the intake plenum. It has one vacuum line and one three pin connector that come into the bottom of it. Its the only device there.
The white 90 fitting is a moisture trap so as not to cause false readings.

No it`s not inside the dash, as Marie has said it`s in the Engine bay. it`s not far from the wipermotor etc. dead easy to find

Sorry, if I've mislead you but you asked about the "MAP sensor socket" so I assumed (wrongly) that you were on about the area that it fits on to the engine.

Oxygen sensor??? No. If you had one, it would be next to the turbo. You just have a large nut in its place.

Is the map sensor easy to replace then. im getting a local garage to change the map sensor and coolant temperature sensor.
can some one please tell me if this is a big job and what sort of time and labour charge would be involved . i dont want to get ripped off . There is no hot wiring ; is there??
