Great news!
I have just located the tool kit - or more correctly the empty box!
Was the socket a plug socket or wheel nut socket?
The rest of it should be easy to replace at the market stall tool man - anyone know what was the allen key was for ? wait a mo ! I just had a joined up thinking moment - I bet its to take the bit off the rocker cover so you can get to the plugs - so I might have answered question one

Why did I buy Ellie * in the deep of winter???? (*the previous owner's wife's nickname for G34Niose Vibration and Harshness, BTW Noise Vibration and Harshness is automotive speak for something Lotus know a lot about however my Elan's interior does squeak a bit in the cold weather

I got a Lotus key fob for Chrsitmas installed it today it looks great.

Where is the toolkit stored? I've never seen it in my car. But then I've never needed to change a wheel at all.

By the way, I still have the two original key fobs. Both look good. Not very 1991 at all.

James - lift the boot floor carpet - spare wheel, jack and brace in the centre, tool kit to the left.

Found it. It had never been opened. But there is no pen-knife or even a space for one. No rust on any of the tools either.

The spare has only been used once in about 1994.
