Nice work

. Only 2 years

had my S4 since 1984 and whilst it has been on the road in that time it's now been a while (2001). I blame LEC for forcing me to spend all my time and money on the M100s instead

Monty
after all the effort its a keeper.....
the other car went to Spyder to be converted to a Zetec....
Nige
and as for LEC.....I know what you mean re getting caught up in the whole enjoyment of it on here.......that why Ive pulled out of the turbo upgrade......the last bundle of cash has just been spend on this and the next bundle is the complete respray of the m100 for the hethel bash in september....
if I can get some mile under the belt in the next few weeks its going to LMC with me......ah its only about 1200 miles for me......I can always do a James May and get everywhere on the back of a tow truck

Looks to me like you just got it out of the garage and glued the door trim back on! Hardly a major project.

Supperb job Gareth. Hope it keeps it going for a good few years to come.
BTW '67 on an H plate - that's illegal, isn't it?

Oh, I see. It's now an F plate. Cut and shut Elans eh?

yep....
I'd built one car up and was restoring the other......
the 67 was a complete running car and had just had a £3k paint job...the 70 was still my project......
the 67 had a bad summer (suspension turret collapse and a goosed engine)
prior to that Id been restoring the 70.......Id rebuilt the drive train with a brand new lotus galv chassis......rebuilt engine, rebuilt brakes etc etc....
so whilst I had the body off the 70......decided to just swap the bodies over and let the 70 go with the knackered chassis and engine as a project...the chassis has now been ditched as its gone to spyder engineering to become a zetec conversion.......

Wow!

"....Id rebuilt the drive train with a brand new lotus galv chassis......rebuilt engine, rebuilt brakes etc etc...."
Now that is a project!
So you have basically a totally resprayed and rebuilt 67 Elan with a galvanised chassis! Sounds like a minter that should last you another 40 years! Will you be driving it to Hethel or is it special use only?

Sounds awesome! I'd love to see it at Hethel, not sure if we are taking the Esprit or the Fast Cat to the birthday bash, but I'm looking forward to it either way.
