Box1:
1. Enright - payment received
2. Dapinky - payment received
3. Jackonicko - payment received
4. DeeAitch - payment received
5. Monty - payment received

Box2:
6. Dico - payment received
7. Gazza - payment received
8. Paul.P - payment received
9. Rodman or Rambo!
10. Candles - payment received

Well I got Candles's payment, but now I'm not sure what to do about number 9!
I've just sent the following PM to Rodman and Rambo to sort it out between themselves:

Derek/Mark,

I need your help to agree who is going to be the last one to get in on the group buy.

Both of you have expressed an interest, and I don't want to say "who gets the money to me first wins", because chances are you'll both do it at the same time and then it will cost me PayPal fees to refunding one you!

Please would you mind discussing it between yourselves and coming back to me with the result?

:?

Can`t you just get them ordered since you`ve got 9 out of 10 payed for?

I`m sure Rodman will pay, just give him chance.

I'm sure both Rodman AND Rambo would, but I don't want one of them to, or it'll cost me to refund them.

Box 1 should already be on it's way, I'm pretty sure I should have the definitive answer on box 2 by the start of next week.

Right, Derek's paid so I've PM'd Mark to communicate my apologies and to ask him not to send any money.
I've also sent the money to the seller and ask that they try to ship the boxes in such a way as to avoid unnecessary customs charges.

Progress so far from USPS tracking website:

Attempted Delivery Abroad, June 28, 2008, 9:11 am, GREAT BRITAIN
Out of Foreign Customs, June 27, 2008, 11:23 am, GREAT BRITAIN
Into Foreign Customs, June 26, 2008, 1:50 pm, GREAT BRITAIN
Arrived Abroad, June 26, 2008, 1:46 pm, GREAT BRITAIN
International Dispatch, June 22, 2008, 4:01 pm, NJI
Electronic Shipping Info Received, June 20, 2008

That first line is news to me - there were no knocks on the door this morning (although it was a pretty heavy Friday night!) and no cards through it.
The delay is a bit of a shame because I was hoping to give Dapinky's to Paul Watkins at the Serpentine Run tomorrow, and have mine fitted in time for it. Oh well...

Latest update: In a nutshell - uh-oh! :(

We got stung for customs.
I just got home to find a letter from Parcelforce, detailing charges of:
Import Duty: £7.54
V.A.T.: £45.34
Parcelforce Clearance Fee: £8.00
Total: £60.88

I just hope that this covers both boxes...

Right, I picked up the first parcel last night, and the reason we got stung was because the supplier (www.atlanticspeed.com) put the full value of $450.00 on the customs declaration. As the package contained 10 coils and each cost $45.60 this wasn't unreasonable, just a bit unfortunate.

There is every chance that the same will happen on the second parcel, so it will have cost us £121.76 (or £12.18 each) more than it should have done. I'm afraid that means I'm going to have to ask for a bit more money out of everyone to cover costs - details to follow, and then there may be a bit of domestic P&P, unless we can make use of "the network" to distribute them. However the favourable exchange rate, the lower cost of shipping split over so many of us and the fact that they are such good quality products will (I hope) go some way towards offsetting this.
If anyone takes this on for next time, they should consider getting the package sent to a Stateside LEC'er who could then just forward it on as "a gift".

I fitted mine this lunchtime - it only takes 10 mins if you leave the baseplate in place, and now I'm running on all 4 cylinders again. In fact my Elan flies. :-D

Rambo wrote: And there will no doubt be an administrative charge by the shippers on top of this! So expect to pay approx £90 - £100 extra (approx £12 pp) on top of the coil packs + shipping charges. You might want to factor this in to the equation and get more £££ up front ?

I wasn't too far away with my original guesstimate then ;-)

Now you have a new T shirt Neil is that old yellow rag being consigned to the bin or used for wiping your dip stick ?

I only just got the other bill through the post today.
As expected, we got stung again - £62.08 this time. :(

So I'll go and pick the 2nd box up tomorrow and pay for it by credit card.
I'll do the sums in a little while and work out the damage for everyone.
And then try to work out how I'm going to circulate the rest of the coils. :?

Right, that's the BAD news over, now for the GOOD news:
Firstly, Matt RI has stepped up to the plate as a Stateside contact.
So the seller can just ship by "cheapo domestic parcel rate" to him, then Matt can, er, "lose" the invoice and forward the parcel to the organiser of the next run.
That will probably cost a tiny bit more in shipping, but should avoid £120 going to Golden Brown!

Oh, and here's the seller's original ad:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 36390&rd=1
I conversed with Pete at Atlanticspeed.com who was very helpful.
And Atlanticspeed@aol.com is their email address.

So in a nutshell, each buyer needs 2 coil packs, which cost $45.60 each.
Atlanticspeed.com will ship a maximum of 10 at a time in a USPS Flat Rate box, which will cost $44.15 (although it could be a bit less than that to get it to Matt RI).
Then Matt will remove anything incriminating (!!!) and forward the box to the organiser of the next run, hopefully avoiding any extra costs.

There ya go, now who's going to be the next willing victim, I mean volunteer?

1. Enright - Parts received. Overpaid.
2. Dapinky - Please contact for despatch method. 2nd installment due.
3. Jackonicko - Parts sent via Specky. 2nd installment due.
4. DeeAitch - Deliver via EM network. 2nd installment due.
5. Monty - Deliver via EM network. 2nd installment due.
6. Dico - Deliver via EM network. 2nd installment due.
7. Gazza - Please contact for despatch method. 2nd installment due.
8. Paul.P - Deliver via EM network. 2nd installment due.
9. Rodman - Parts sent via Specky. 2nd installment due.
10. Candles - Deliver Sat 12/7. 2nd installment due.

Postage from work is difficult (and would be costly at over 1kg each plus all the time to individually wrap them), so:
I passed on Jacko's and Rodman's parts to Dave Speck last weekend he agreed to get them to them via Surferphil.
I've PM'd Candles as I'm not far from him on Saturday, and hope that he may be able to pass on DeeAitch's, Monty's, Dico's and Paul.P's at the next East Midlands meeting, but that's yet to be confirmed.
That just leaves Dapinky and Gazza. 2 parcels is manageable, so please can you contact me to arrange how/where to send them?

Oh, and as mentioned before, I'm afraid there's a bit more to pay.
PayPal took a chunk of the original payment, shipping costs were double what we originally expected and then there was the whopping customs/duty charge.
So the final extra amount is £14.37 for Jackonicko and £8.57 each for the rest.
Rather than giving any more to PayPal when it's already come out of my account, please could you each send me a cheque?
It needs to be made out to Mr M.N.Wright.

Sorry for doing all this financial stuff in public but I'm at work, I've spent far too long on this already and PM's would take even longer.
Thanks guys! :)
