A pillar seals......availability

Postby theelanman » Wed 16.07.2008, 14:24

Just had a post from Lotus

<<<<<
We are about to release the resourced 'A' pillar seals after several years of trying to get the material/moulding correct from the new supplier and we will hopefully look into resourcing the other items as and when we can but have no time scale at the moment.
>>>>>>>

it was in response to the request for door seals which are (sounds like they 'were') in the same state as the a post seals......

good new tho.... :-D

Maybe not for us all, I just gave Phil £300 for a new set he had.

Then again what will Lotus charge....

Great news!

Again just hoping they are a reasonable price, or else at least likley to last the life of the car.

Here's hoping Group Lotus give us all a special 60th Birthday Discount :-D
Alas soon to be Elan-less

How about a "We know you've been driving around with a plastic bag on your knee for the last five years" discount?

Why do you think I sold them! - Only joking, Lotus will probably have done them by the time your new seals need replacing. They were/are about the same price. :( I sold to you what I paid, so I would have thought Lotus would be more.

I don't think the A-post seals are responsible for the knee-leak. Looks like that leak originates from the header seal.
To have a seal which actually forms a seal can't be a bad thing though.

On my BRG Elan, the A seals have a manufacturers flaw which causes this leak. Cured by Vaseline.

I hope so as mine are embassing tatters of rubber that just look rubbish and belittle the many hundreds of pounds I'm spending getting my Elan up to scratch
Currently Elan-less and on the lookout for a good one.

Latest batch that were trialled at Hethel were returned as not fit for purpose.

Yeah, that's definitely NOT a match for the original seal then.

Yes, I bought this at the 60th event - and it should keep the water out
