You wanted a difference of opinion, so here goes:

Holy cow, that just makes me want to sob. How apposite that the previous pic was of a TR7.

It's like making your mum wear split crotch panties. Putting the Queen in Burberry. Vulgar and chavvy and inappropriate on what is a classy but funky design icon.

But it looks as though you've done a lovely job on the respray, ya sick puppy!

Teeheehee, Jacko you crack me up, I tried not to bite on this one, but can’t help myself!

You say the Elan is “a classy but funky design” Aren’t those two terms almost a contradiction? Haven’t I sprayed the car a funky colour? So a funky design in a funky colour? Hummmm...........that sounds like it’d work to me!?!?!?!

When you say it’s “Vulgar, chavvy & inappropriate” I’m assuming it’s just the colour you’re referring too, as I’ve not done anything else to it that several other Elan owners haven’t already done to theirs! So assuming it’s the colour, maybe you need to have a word with Lotus as it’s a Lotus colour (as highlighted previously in this thread!)

Maybe where you come from the chavs are a bit higher class than my neck of the woods?, but where I come from chav cars are a bit different than my car!

Anyhew, I’ll leave it at that as I have to go and wash my burberry shirts, then I need to look on ebay for some neon lights to go under the Elan.

Thanks for comments about the paint job though, I’ll tell my Dad as he will be pleased (I won’t tell him you’ve been talking about my mums pants though!!!   )

Ps. If anyone knows where I can get a 8 inch chrome tail pipe trim to fit let em know as I think that would look the dogs boll*cks! 8)

Cheers. Once it’s finished this weekend I’ll take some better pics on the way home that will make better desktop pictures!

Very nice indeed, if I'm honest I believed you'd screw it up :-D but it turned out rather nice. I don't like green very much but that looks very lively and pure. I agree with your opinion on stripes. As you have a new and beautiful looking paint job now, wax it all the time mate and keep up that clean new look.

Kier

It looks superb! Can't wait to see it in the flesh, so to speak.

Are you planning to make H+C next week?

Take care

If the sun comes out, you'll need a filter for the camera - it's pretty bright even in the gloom! No one's going to be able to claim "I didn't see him coming..." I wasn't sure whether I'd like it but I think it's growing on me. Not so much as to wrest me away from BRG, though.

Nice!

Bung a set of Anthracite S2 wheels on it and I recon it'd look the business

It's not to my taste, and it doesn't look like an Elan, but it's impressive, very well done and I can see the appeal.

Will B is right - it does make SE wheels look old fashioned.

I suspect that it might look best with something more modern and busy even than S2 wheels - something like those on LGM's Elans, perhaps? But definitely in anthracite or gunmetal.

Don't get me wrong - I prefer a more classic look, but once you've gone down a more 'in your face' avenue, then that look has to 'hang together', and I suspect the car would look best with wheels I'd hate on a 'classic' coloured Elan.

Have you got those round Kia/Elise type lights on the back? They're not something I like, normally, but I bet they'd look good and in keeping with the colour?
