Nice work, Phil, apart from the naff cat's head.

Should be a Cheetah (the fastest cat)

either the classic pose

or something more dynamic

perhaps superimposed on an Elan silhouette?

The 'Naf logo' is a sticker from a Puma flight crew I met when I was a kid at an air show. They had the sticker on the nose of their Puma. I like it. I also like the cat on skates the Lotus staff created. 8)

I like your enthusiasm though! :smt023

I'm really not too bothered about the looks of this car it's primarily a track car; nothing aesthetic will take president over getting this car to perform as best I can get it and as reliable.

The development is already expensive and that is with assistance from some extremely helpful people, who have saved me money or enabled this car to be a lot better than it would with my budget.

I should have recognised it, shouldn't I?

If you're going to use 230 Squadron's Tiger's head badge, then perhaps you should get them to paint the car for you.....

(They have.................

............. form)

Image

Their official badge is interesting too.....

Image

bears a strong resemblance to that of a well known beer-maker.....

Image

But I still think that a Cheetah would be best, and that you might find a friendly aviation journo who could get you the logo done free of charge.....

That definitely gets my vote. Just make sure it's painted properly, so when doors are opened....

Just want to make sure everybody takes you seriously.

The flaw with that plan is; I have no doors. I could just write arse and penis on reg plates; penis at the front and arse at the back!

It has doors and a windscreen. What are they for on track?

I managed to do some carbon work on the front end today! and the hood lid replacement is nearly finished too! should be nice and light weight in Epoxy/Carbon composite. :-D

Who was after the fed front bumper? "FRONT BUMPER FEDERAL Auto Body $1,799.00" It's well worth upgrading the brakes!

I have been quite busy on the car this winter and still have a lot to do! Despite working on my latest toy (an S1 Esprit) and sorting out my new workshop and faffing about with rear Elise light Elan panels.

The stripping of parts has come to an end, which included parts of the electrical system! There is not much left of the wiring loom in the back half of the car.

The 3 main things to finish are:

1/ Completion of Bodywork including:- patching in holes, finishing front combined clam/bonnet section, fabricating door skins and open dashboard, and a re modelling of the rear end.
2/ Fitting Bob Browns brake upgrade:- which will include Hydraulic hand brake and adjustable (bias front to back)
3/ Fuel system:- FIA regulation foam filled fuel tank, fuel pump, filter, filler and cut off switch.

Smaller things to do include:
Dash switches and dials
The possibility of light weight front lights for the dreaded MOT (the car requires a VIC before so we'll see if it passes that first)
Re hosing the cooling system now the heater matrix is gone and making space for the new freer flowing induction system

Big jobs a little further afield are:-

Custom Exhaust system
Suspension system overhaul
Paint work
Aero - down force
Supercharging
I'll talk about these after the rest of the mountain has been climbed.

I have been quite busy fabricating panels and figuring out what needs improving on the car and how to best 'design' the things I have to replace. The Aerodynamics of the car are more important than the engines performance. As I am forced to rebuild bodywork, I have been making some serious considerations to what exactly 'should' go in it's place. I suppose the only original part of the body left, are the rear wings.

Sounds like it`s slowly coming together, be good to see the final product :smt023

Are you still using the stock front bumper? Just wonder are you going to make a front splitter?

What about fitting undertrays for smoother air flow underneath like the Elise has :?
