Suspected Coil Failure

On the run to Silverstone, I noticed a drop in performance - to the extent that acceleration from low speed was difficult - similar to timing fault or fuel starvation. On the return journey, the performance deteriorated further although less noticeable at higher revs - obviously not fuel starvation. I checked the timing which was near enough. I suspected damaged spark plugs / leads / coils. Removing the plug leads in sequence, Plug 1 made no difference, plugs 2 & 3 caused a near stall and plug 4 made no difference. I now suspect that one of the coils has failed.
Have I missed anything or am I on the right track?

Sounds good... Just finish of your diagnosis... transpose the coils... should take 20-30 mins... and do the test again...

The fault should move...

Thanks for the heads-up. Could I simply swap over the coil-ends of the plug leads or must the coils be transposed on the baseplate?

I don't know...

I'd play safe and swap them on the base plate...
