Pocket Dyno for iPhone/iPod

If you have an iPod Touch (like me) or a iPhone then thissounds too good to be true. For $13 its a pretty inexpensive gamble though. Think I'll download it next week and try it out.

Bit of an unfair comment really... I did quite a bit of research when they originally came out as I thought Apple would push the technology... but it seemed to be quite devoid of technology/functionality... don't know if the v2 is any better though, but as far as I can gather they have just added 3G... still a long way behind Nokia (unfortunately).

Anyway, let's not decend into a love or hate Apple debate here.

For a Lotus Elan owner, who should appreciate good design, and a great man-machine interface, that just 'works' intuitively, I'd have thought that a mac should be the platform of choice.

Unless your relationship with your car is one where the fiddling under the bonnet, and the DIY element is more important than a great drive.

As to the iPhone, you either get it, or you don't.

And the user interface is such that my 85 year old Dad loves it as much as I do, and can surf the web and read and answer e-mails on it.

There are plenty of phones with more gadgets and functions than Apple's, but none that are such a joy to use.

But then you could probably go and buy a Skoda or an MX-5 with more gadgets and buttons than an Elan, if that's what floats your boat, PC Weenies!

I installed it but haven't had time to really test it out. I did turn it on while driving to measure the cornering g-forces. Got up to .8 on one corner! Pedestrians were a little nervous though I think its going to work fabulously and you can't go wrong for 12 bucks!

Just got an iPod Touch and Dynolicious last night - now I need a mount for it and I'll do some runs! It'll be great to see mods' effects on the numbers.

The mount shouldn't use the flexible gooseneck, I think it'd move too much to get accurate results...

BTW - the app has been tested alongside more expensive performance meters and stacks up well!

yes and it works pretty well. I tried it up at Infineon at the Wed night drags last year. 1/4 mile times and trap speed were within .2 sec/.5 mph of my posted time and speed. The bhp is pretty accurate as well so long as you set it up right and end have acurate specs on your car.
