Smaug's Check Engine Light came on after a full-boost run uphill in 3rd (just checking wastegate operation

) I pulled over, groused, shut off the car, groused some more and restarted. CEL was off and stayed off 'til I returned home. Pulling out my handy-dandy ElanScan laptop, let the car idle and I pulled the attached file. I think what I'm seeing is EGR Valve errors, but since I've never had a CEL before, I'd appreciate someone taking a look.

Doug,
The EGR flag has been set, have a look in the Engine Management manual, it should give some tips on problem solving for CELs

Yessir, it's
soooo rewarding to get something right!

Followed the vacuum line from the EGR to VSV and found it detached at the VSV. Problem solved. I'll clear the flags and make sure all is well. Thanks for confirming I'm reading ES output correctly, Ailwyn!

You don't know the half of it. I was on the way to pick up my daily driver from the dealer... after paying $180 to find out why its CEL was on.

time to buy an OBD II reader for the other car then -- can't you take it to a local auto parts type store and have them tell you the code from their OBD II reader?

Even easier: time to build
this tester (sure ain't ElanScan!) then use the Mercedes equivalent of this forum to guess what the trouble might be. Unfortunately, there are lots more mercedes, many more model variations and very few informed, hands-on owners. I truly, deeply appreciate the support on this forum. Nothing else like it in autodom.
