You can go to your profile and click the link to view your posts. That will bring your posts up in order, from the most recent, and each has a link on it to the actual post. That will tak eyou to the threads.
True dat. Let's say I did that. I'd see my post 2 entries above, but it would not indicate that you had replied. Last week I could get "my" listing and it would show on each one the last person who updated that thread, and each time someone did update it moved that thread to the top of "my" list.

Matt,

We are currently looking into getting that added on the main forum screen as per previous version.

Can this problem be solved by changing the settings on my computer or is it part of the upgrade?

Before the upgrade, on the unread posts page you clicked on a post - the page came up after 3 or 4 seconds minus any pictures – you could scroll down and read the latest post while the pictures were still loading, click the back button and be choosing another unread post and so on.

Now when you click on an unread post the page freezes while all the detail is being downloaded in the background. Over 4 minutes later in the case of this page

Ray,

I'm using firefox and the full text is available as the pics download.

What browser are you using?

Ailwyn,

I’m using MS Internet Explore version 6.0.

I looked at the Firefox web page when you suggested it earlier but the download is too big for dial up, I’ll try to get it on CD.

The text loaded up on Internet Explorer before the upgrade.

Quite apart from the time it takes to load up, the original page is frozen you can’t even scroll down to look for you next choice.

When clicking on a topic title with more than one page, you end up at page one whereas previously you were taken to the last page (or even a non-existent page in case of the old eBay thread). I'm sure some people have fallen foul of it and I've posting on the curry thread after page one instead of three. Instead of Manchester United and the Smiths going for a curry, it's ManUre plus 15 and the list's closed! Looks like the kids are going hungry. :-D

I've checked the copy of the old forum and that don't happen for me... the only way of getting to the last page was to click the "show unread" or "show latest" link, both these links are still available in this version.

No attachments were allowed to PMs, although you can now link to external pics using the IMG button

Thanks Ailwyn. Doug will be relieved, as I was going to send him a who's who picture album of LEC members!

I stand corrected. I should have added that I only tend to use the "show unread" facility and this now takes you to the first page.

This is the URL I get from the unread posts link on the renevo thread, which takes me to the last page.

This is a new issue, but still within the realms of the site upgrade.......

Since the new look LEC (good job, by the way!) i have tried to include links to web pages in a couple of replies...

Whilst it works, it seems to work differently....

Before, a new box would open up, i pasted the web address, hit 'okay' and then had an option to write what i wanted the link to display as in the forum, hit 'okay' again and job done.

Now, there is no new box, just a pair of brackets with which allows me to enter the web address and there seems to be no facility to enter what i want it to display on the thread.
Other posts seem to be able to do it, so am i just a numpty muppet who doesn't understand basics, or is there a setting i need to change, or is it just tough, and i have to live with it???

PS I'm running IE7 (latest version) with Vista Home Premium - i have never got on with Firefox, before anyone suggests it as a good fix, so would rather not go down that line at the moment (sorry to all of you that like/use it, no offence intended  )

Dave,

I have just checked in IE 6 (don't have v7 - praise be!) and the same pop-up is available (it also works in FireFox).

It uses scripts to generate the pop-ups, maybe these are disabled in your IE settings?

Failing that, to manually insert a URL:
Code: Select all
Some site to visit

Thanks for the quick reply Ailwyn.

I haven't changed the IE settings since the site changeover, so that shouldn't be an issue (but knowing MS IE, that doesn't always follow!).

I'll have another go at doing it manually when the opportunity presents itself.
