Has anyone used jack stands to support all four corners of the car with the wheels off?
Never used them before!
Is it a safe car for this kind of task and should the existing jacking points be used?

If you had four perfectly good stands under the four jacking points it would be as safe as houses used to be. You just need to work out how to replace the jack with the stand.

S2 Elans only have 2 jacking points. I think there is a thread about where to put the stands.

I've an S2. And from the threads it seems it's not possible to jack four points of the car!
So how the hell do you MOT the car or carry out work using a lift and in my case, how on earth am I'm going to get my wheels refurbished?

I thought I’d read where an S2 has got four but it says you only need to use one to jack one side up... someone will confirm.
In the meantime here’s the diagram from the SE manual.

I have a set of ratty SE wheels, with legal tyres, that you could borrow while yours are refurbed.
I did my wheels in pairs, which meant that I only NEEDED two extra wheels.

On the S2 there are only one jacking point each side for "A" in diagram in post above. I put axle stands under "B" and "C" after using car jack to lift car using jacking point. Do one side then the other.

Managed to find a wheel refurbisher in Birmingham offering a 25% discount for September bookings, so that's taken away a lot of the cost that I was hoping to save by buying axel stands rather than supplying the whole car to the worskshop. Just thought I'd kill two birds with one stone, put the car on stands and paint the calipers whilst the wheels were away.
Seems to be more trouble than it's worth! Just hope the wheel finishers locate their stands correctly. A stiff talking to should do it...
It's a very reputable company and is offering a same day service on all four wheels, including strip/refit/balance/chrome valves.
They should look 'bling' with my new chrome nut covers/Lotus centre caps and Lotus locking valve caps (if they ever come)!
And a fresh set of silver calipers.
They quoted 240+42 VAT. And then there will be a 25% discount of that price. My maths are terrible and not sure how it's worked out alonside VAT but it should be around 220 squids I think???

Sounds like a bargain to me
