Hi
Yes light pods are fine work when I turn the lights on and manually.
I didn't mention the obvious "he will inspect and report on possible chassis and internal damage".
we have spoken about the crash structure, rads, intercooler etc.. but he specialises in these types of cars (rare sports/classics)and is used to sourcing parts from all over the world and if not, manufacturing the required bits.
These guys have a rep of producing concourse quality cars, so if I get the go-ahead I am confident they will do a good job.

Gerry, sorry to read of your problems but glad to see you appear to have a sensible solution as it would be a great shame to see such a rare colour disappear. Keep your chin up!

Hi Gerry,
I was so saddened to hear about your accident, but glad that no-one was hurt. Good luck with the insurance go-ahead.
Looking forward to seeing you at Donington 09 in your Silk Red

I used to deal with a company that did this work on behalf of the insurance companies but do not know this one.
They only really make sure that the work that is being carried out is to a standard, check the general condition of the car (bald tyres and your claim may be invalidated) and check that the work being carried out is part of the damage being claimed for.
I have seen people try to get more work done than they have claimed for, hit in the rear so they get the dent in the front wing that was done a year ago done on the same claim.
Should be nothing to worry about, I have even been there when the engineer turned up as I was arguing the case for a new door against the old one having a new outer skin fitted, I got the new door!

Hi
I have the engineer coming out in the next few days,
Does anyone know how many silk red SE cars are around or registered in 1992.
Pre-armed with how rare the colour is and all that.

I don't think it was an original SE colour option (Gazza and Sy were discussing it, but I can't find the thread) although there may have been some special paint orders and there are some re-painted SEs but you can probably count them on the fingers of one hand.
It was an S2 option, but there are only 10 listed in the S2 register.

Silk Red was a factory, standard colour and there are a few out there. But I stress a few. I'd say there are more silk red SE's than S2's. My theory based on all of the cars I've seen in Autotrader etc. Over the last 18 years (sad, but I like looking through used car mag's-Ha, ha...).
Silk Red was actually used on the Esprit to start with and mainly the SE 'High-wing' cars... K plate plus. Never seen Silk Red prior to a K plate. And mostly Esprits...
It wasn't on the standard option sheet but was a regular LOTUS colour if I'm not mistaken. In the same way that black/ Midnight blue etc. were not on the Elan S2 option list but was obviously an option.

If I recall me and Sy were discussing Palacio Purple, not Silk Red. Silk Red was a SE colour for sure.

Right...
Palacio was not an S.E colour!
Palacio/Medina were Bugatti introduced colours.
It was first introduced for the '94 collcetion (M-plate) and if I'm not mistaken the first cars to use Palacio were Esprit S4's (Not S4S's), certainly in the cases that I'd seen at the time.
Palacio at this time was a standard colour and was listed in customer order forms/brochures... Silk red was not and was a G.M issued colour.
I don't know, but I would say from the standard colour lists that PALACIO is probably the rarest colour out there!? Not including the special order colours like Bugatti Blue/Pearl white etc.
Strange because it's a beautiful colour but was ahead of its time somewhat and lost out to MEDINA, which I like, but is just another Vauxhaul Astra colour and too close to offerings from Peugeot and Citreon of the time...
How many Palacio on the books GAZZA?
I can only remember seeing three, I think, in the plastic...

I thought about that, too. Not to worry - if you need another set of your own, Dave, just PM. I'll be happy to send you package clearly marked as a "birthday gift"!
