I nearly offered you a loan of my TPS as I can't crack the hub nut. Thought it might have been the thin end of the wedge though... S2, breaking for spares.

Pinky's spare TPS arrived in the post today and is now fitted - car is running as it should. Thanks Dave.

This is a temporary loan so I am still looking for another, or a Geordie exiled in the West Country to work some magic on my one.

My question :
How can I position the TPS correctly ?
It is possible to move the sensor for about 5, as the screw slots are oval.
Looked into service and maintenance documentation, couln't find useful info.

BTW, I did find an alternative at RockAuto parts, not cheap either...

Thought I would resurrect an old thread after doing some reading up.

Took the car out last week and started to get a mis-fire of sorts, checked all the plugs and leads and took the car for a blast again today and after a few miles the car was definately not firing right. The car pulls away great but then when just coasting or just running in general traffic it's missing and coughing something awful. I did notice that the engine warning light flashed up a couple of times but went off after a couple of seconds but that at least gave me the chance to capture a fault code.

Check the fault code when I got home and it's fault code 22, Throttle Position Sensor (Signal Voltage Low), now the question is do I need to change this out completely or could it be a bad connection, had a quick look under the bonnet but couldn't locate where this part is, will have a look through other posts but any feedback would be appreciated

I'm assuming it's a job I might be able to undertake myself given a few tips or pointers

Thanks BCN, visiual inspection shows all the solder connections to be good. is there any way of testing this without the tech 1 tool, can you check the volage output with a normal Voltmeter on the correct teminal ? if so which wire as the tech notes doesn't seem to have that info that I can see.

Doesn't look like the unit has moved at all so I guess i'm potentially looking at having to swap this out which is startiung to look costly

The Elanscan is able to read the voltages. Contact Geoffsmith for the current price and availability. It is a tool you should have anyway as it will help with any running issues you may run into.

Throttle position sensor issues yet again at the weekend, traced back to a dodgy wire on the TPS itself. Resoldered and now all OK.

However I feel there will come a time when the TPS will fail again like the last one and I was wondering if anyone has found anything after market that could be used instead? it would probably need an adapter plate making to mount it possibly but I thought before I head down that route myself I would see if anyone has already been down that road and there is something out there.

had a search on the forum under TPS and Throttle Position Sensor and couldn't find anything obvious. Thoughts anyone?
