This is the URL I get from the unread posts link on the renevo thread, which doesn't take me to the last page.


Also, similar to Dave with the URLs. FF at home gives URL popup, IE6 at work (same build as before) does not.

View unread works for me on Firefox and IE 6 - are you clicking on the correct icon??

The only place I can find a link like the one you posted is if I click on the thread title, which like you takes me to the first page (the same as it always has).

I'm using IE 6.0.2900.21980 and both the unread links and pop-ups for URLs work for me, so it's either down to a bug/quirk of the version of IE being used or something in your settings is blocking scripts from running.

Courtesy of Al... I now have Firefox on my machine

Now when I click on anything, even in Picture gallery, the page comes up straightaway, even before the avatars have had time to load... you can scroll down to the last post, read it, and be back on the index all in a few seconds. It’s like Broadband on Dial up

Previously - since the forum upgrade - using IE6, every picture finished downloading before the page would arrive and in the meantime the screen was frozen on the index. In the case of one carrying a number of images this could take as long as 4 minutes.

It's your imagination... a lot of work from the Mods goes into keeping the site spam free. Just so happens that all of the mods happened to be busy at the weekend and the one spammer was deleted once I noticed his posts last night.

Anyone with a valid email address can register and by doing so is able to post... this policy has always been the same.

We need to keep an eye out as a community and if anyone spots spam notify the Mods who will delete it.

The banner at the top of the page has a very noticeable step a third of the way across from dark green to mid, but then neatly fades into the picture.
Could anything be done to replicate that fade so that there isn't the step there?

Can't see it here with Firefox on Mac or PC.

Same picture, same code, so it must be down to the way IE renders the images and graphics differently to FireFox.

I think it's just a case of you'll have to live with it.

Web palette not adhered to? Use a web safe colour or just change it to have something new (just make sure it looks nice )

My real reason for posting here is: when I select a thread it always goes to the oldest post, not the latest page/post (even if I re visit with no new posts).

I have just tested this again on the Southern meet thread and clicking the little pink icon took me directly to page 40.

Now if the green background looked different in the two browsers I could understand it, but they look the same to me, it's the green in the picture that looks darker in IE which means it's rendering the (same colour in the) picture differently

There seems to be something strange going on. In IE7, if you click on the "Home" link on the image shown above, you then get an ever so slightly different banner with thicker yellow lines each side and this time with a single colour of green across the whole banner. Is there any difference between the image shown above (different colours of green on IE7) and the one used on the Home Page (same colour green across whole banner on IE7), or in terms of location or scaling of the images on each page?

The browser should try and match to the nearest colour, if it's pallet is different from the web site code. But the image has it's own pallet which the browser does not change; as the pixel colour code is in the bitmap file (jpg, gif, bmp etc) not in the html.
The browsers may have 2 totally different pallets especially if one is 32 bit and the other 64 or if one is good and the other is shite.... it's just because it's shite isn't it!

I've noted a couple of things since the upgrade, one of minor annoyance and one which means I can't see the forum at all:

Minor annoyance:
I am one of those who can see a darker-coloured green box around the LEC header at the top left of all forum pages (about where my garage is ) except the login page. It is quite obvious and I can see the effect on the following combinations:

• iMac G7.1, Safari : green box seen
• iMac G7.1, firefox : banner all one colour (lighter green)
• iMac G3, MS Internet Explorer : green box seen
• PC , MS Internet Explorer : green box seen
• PC , firefox : banner all one colour (lighter green)

I therefore conclude that whereas other browsers can differentiate the darker coloured box round the logo, firefox can't.

I hadn't used it to log in since the forum upgrade, and what I found is on the attached jpeg. I can see the LEC banner, page layout, headers and general typing, but I can't see any of the thread titles, or get into any of the threads. My old G3 uses Explorer Version 5.1.7 which is about all that's available for it these days. Every other website I tried works OK, but LEC looks like the picture below.

I don't know if this an upgrade related issue but I appear to be getting logged out every time I try to post ( three times so far with this post) or is it my machine - any suggestions gratefully received as it is getting really annoying.

This is normally a cookie problem - check your browser privacy settings are not interfering with the forum cookies.

Wow, IE5!
This is going to be tough to fix for the simple reason that neither I nor Ailwyn (I suspect) have a machine old enough to run IE5 for OS9 !

Incidentally, there's a "newer" version of IE5 that you might want to try (5.2.3 vs. your 5.1.7 which is 2 years [even] older): http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Internet-U ... orer.shtml

That sounds like our hosting company's network file system went screwy (again). Since it went away when you retried it's not going to be related to the upgrade, so I'm afraid there's nothing we can really do about it :/
