BB`s Rear Hub/Disc conversion

Postby Monty » Thu 02.10.2008, 22:46

Only put your name down if your committed to Buy

Trying to get more members signed up for this as Bob Brown sent me an emailing asking if we can get more owners on board the cheaper he can get the hubs made up.

This conversion will replace the one piece hub & disc to a seperate hub and a seperate one piece disc. So in the future when the disc have to be replaced thats all you need to change which will only cost you approx £20 to £30 the pair instead of the £140 + bearings.

You can still use the stock rear caliper as normal or if you`ve got the Hi-spec/wilwood fronts then you may like to go for BB`s Rear Hi-spec brake conversion (see Suspension and Brakes section)

Here`s the link to the Rear Hub conversion discussion thread,
viewtopic.php?f=41&t=12665

Cheers
Jay

bobbrown wrote:I have had a quote to get the hubs machined and it comes in at £102.37 each hub for 20 off 10 axle sets
Now if we can get to 20 axle sets (40hubs) total the cost comes down to £89.69 each hub and no doubt if there are more then the price will come down even further.
There is one other cost to add in and that is delivery and I may be able to get them delivered in pairs direct or even if they are all sent here the one off delivery cost for the whole lot is not likely to add too much + delivery to you say £6.00
If any one is thinking I will wait for the second run then beware the cost is related to numbers and if only 10 people are interested on the second run the price will be higher!

I will list the other parts that are required to use the standard/ Dorman caliper shortly once I had a chance to look them up.

Also I will need your money before I place the order as it is a lot of money when you multiply it up.

I'm interested but would like to get into the nitty gritty before a firm commitment.

Bob, any sense of price at the moment? Even a rough number that could drop depending upon the number of people buying in? I'm assuming the cost would be for the rotors only as we've not yet got to mounting brackets for new calipers let alone bearings?

I was trying to get the hubs into one list as the cost is dependant on numbers!

I didn`t intend this to turn in to another list, it was just to make others aware of the Hub conversion and to put there name on the other thread which i put a link too

Bob, what about keeping the other thread as discussion thread only and this one for the list?

It look as though talking about cost as 'each' confused someone previously. And I can see how......is that each per person?, or each per hub meaning you double the cost quoted :? :? .

If you are giving the cost per hub, would it be less confusing to talk about an axle set? Surely no-one will want only 1 hub conversion.

If the cost is per hub (and should be doubled), Im just thinking that some people on the list might think its a total cost and start pulling out late on when they come to realise its not

I've started confusing myself now

It is a lttle confusing or at least open to misinterpretation but my understanding is that it is £95 per hub at the current take up, which is £190 per axle set or per car. If this is not correct then I'm sure I'll be put right.

The multiple threads haven't helped matters but I don't think there's much to be done to sort that out at present. This is the right place for group buys, ie a committment to buy, with the suspension and brakes area for ongoing discussion.

And just to get back on topic and the whole purpose of this thread:

1 Bobbrown
2 LGM (hubs only)
3 Nige (Hubs only here as I will go for the Hi-Spec rear calipers etc in the other thread for the S2)
4 Monty (Hubs only at the mo)
5 Paulwatkins (hubs only please)
6 GeoffSmith
7 Ailwyn
8 Ailwyn
9 Woody.
10 Dico
11 Gazza (Hubs only at the mo)
12 Richard K
13 Chris T (hubs only please)
14 Algirdas (hubs only at the moment)
15 Doc Fizzix (hubs only)
