Gerry/Doug

No problem - i got a red set for Angies car, and i've got an OE set on the spare engine - so the chance of me NEEDING any are slim (with the 4 on my car, plus 2 spare OE sets, plus Paul Watkins old OE ones in my garage).

I only had the yellow ones to save Doug carrying them home, and to keep them safe for Gerry (if needed). I would have made use of them if things had worked out differently with the insurance company, but the bottom line is that I'm just chuffed that the car is going to live on (and it's occupants, of course!).

Let me know when you need them, and I'll get them to you - no rush, get it better first!
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

I paid Doug at Hethel, so I suppose it will be me, when you want 'em.

Sorry to read about your accident GeeO glad everyone is OK. The problem with Elans to insurance companies is that no new parts are available so they write-off as the easy option. If they do write it off make sure you agree a buy back of the car. As a private repair or stripping for parts it is worth more than their assessment.

I stripped a Calypso red Elan a couple of years ago and still have many front parts if I can be of help, unfortunately it had a front prang so body panels are about as bad as yours
All the best plans are flexible, Lotus use Sicaflex.

Be carefull gerry with the costs the insurance agreed to pay for the repair, my wife crashed my elan last year, very similar damage, norwich union wanted to write it off, i refused, had to pay my self, option 1 did a top class job on my car, glass repair to plinth below bonnet, plus a full respray , what i would recommend,
1 check turbo actuator rods not bent, the honey comb crumple zone bent mine,
2 the metal slam panel beneath the bonnet catch will have been bent, mine looked ok , i only had slight crack in the gell coat but the panel bent in by 20 mill, iTS a s**t to repair as you have to remove clam shell to get to it, my bonnet wouldnt open after the resray, had to strip the clam off, THE METAL TAKES THE IMPACT NOT THE FIBERGLASS
3 you'll be lucky if your bumpers not smashed to bits, mine looked fine untill i took it off the car, the fronts impact plastic, the rears glassfibre, the back of mine fell apart,

Had an update toady

All looks ok

NO chassis damage

Crash structure is a little damaged but he is looking at a 2 pronged approach 1= repair 2= source a replacement

Everything else looks fine the bleed valve on the rad was broken, he will replace with something that fits as it is unavailable.

Front end respary and rear bumper respary (previous damage) and touch up an other obvious chips full wax polish

He said it will be ready next week. Should look better that new

Called in to see Frank at Option 1 this morning.
He has Gerry's work well in hand.
SJs radiator plug is on order and he hopes he's secured the last Lotus-stocked front crash panel (if they can find it!), although he's prepared to fix the old one if he has to.

Frank's too professional to let someone else see his cars in repair mate. But he was confident of a good end product.

Nice job

You will have to get the polish out for the engine to match the nice paint work
