Spark plugs NGK BKR6EK

Postby valimar » Fri 10.10.2008, 18:30

Hello Everyone,
Just a simple question: does any of you have some experience with this kind of spark plugs? As far as I understood, except for de double electrode, they are exactly the same as the BKR6E, the ones everybody uses for the M100 turbo!
Cheers Rodrigo

That's right. I've been thinking about using them now I've upgraded the ignition. However just re-gapping the standard plugs will probably bring a similar benefit.

I think Paul Matty fits these as standard after service.

Thanks, I'll wait till you find out! I just had a look in Paul Matty's catalogue But I found no mention about this type of spark plugs!

He bought a batch of these a few years ago and fitted them then. They didn't give any performance improvement and with the added cost they've since reverted back to NGK BKR6Es (I think) which are standard, single electrode types.

Thanks for answering so quickly! I already bought one set of this, so if it doesn't give any improevement, there is also no harm in using them! Maybe they will last longer then the oem ones!
Cheers

For what it's worth, I'm using NGK Iridium tipped BKR6EIXs in Smaug, boosting to 16+PSI, with good results. They come in two pre-gapped flavours IEX-11 and IEX-06. The 11mm gap is too wide for a high boost engine. Returning them to the stock 8mm seems perfect.
