Seat piping...

Postby ektrolleyboy » Wed 24.09.2008, 21:17

Has anyone tried installing a coloured piping to their existing leather trim?
I'm guessing a good trimmer would be able to remove the covers and carry out this task?

I fancy a nice Pacific Blue piping. I've never seen an S2 with the factory piping on a Pacific Blue car. Azure is the closest I've seen. Anyone know if it was available from LOTUS when new in this colour?

I can't find any pictures of a Pacific Blue S2 with colour piping, but 100% sure it was available as an option when new.

I have seen light and dark green, red, burgundy, yellow, purple, grey, black and Medium blue for the Azure. Mine has a very dark blue to match the Midnight exterior.

What a shame there are no pictures.
Oh well...
I've just spoken to Bromsgrove Auto Trimmers who are going to pipe my interior for around 100 pounds. They'll confirm once they've seen the car. They'll show me a colour chart and need the car for a day and a half they say.
Exciting!

Is the factory piping vinyl or leather?

At long last I've been to see Pete @ Bromsgrove Auto trimmers. What a nice guy and what fantastic work they do (at a fraction of Hethel costs).
He's just quoted me £45 max to repair the mouse damage in the passenger side seat.
They're booked up solidly until February 2009! But, because of the work that's already been referred to them by LEC he's said he can do my work next week at 48hrs notice.
I suggest that these boys will be invaluable contacts for the foreseeable future.

They even have a dedicated Lotus section now!

Right.
I'm off next Thursday all being well to choose the piping for my S2.

I just want to clarify as there seems to be conflict... The S2 has vinyl piping from the factory?
I'll probably go with the best colour regardless of material. Leather would be nice I think, but there's that part of me that wants to keep things as factory as possible.

Exciting!
