Lost 1st and 2nd gears

Postby Richard Yates » Sat 01.11.2008, 15:55

The H pattern feels normal but the gearbox selects 3rd and 4th in the 1st/2nd gate as well as the 3rd/4th. Reverse selects normally. I guess this must be a cable problem and I have removed the tunnel and rubber gear lever cover but I am having difficulty seeing what it is - can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

My first thought would be your cross-gate cable has slipped. The only thing is that you should notice that the shift lever is a little to the left of where it used to be (all the time), which is why you wouldn't be able to select 1st and 2nd. Are you sure you can feel the H pattern actually going into 1st and 2nd?

does it all feel at bit more 'floppy'?....
could be gear cables
mine went like that with 3 and 4....felt like the pattern was there but no connection into the gears....just a though
