I agree the color match looks spot on.

Not intended as a critisism, as it's your car and your workmanship is always a pleasure to behold.....

....personally i think the plug wire cover in yellow is a bit much, and a contrast would suit me better....

I have to agree with Dave. Contrast between the plug cover and cam cover is needed. Personally, I would strip the plug cover and polish it.

Yellow wires, yellow cover.

I like monochrome color cars from the late '80s too. I think it gives a clean look. Now adding yellow coolant hoses would be too much, especially since they'd be a bright yellow not matching the car. I looked at many cars with black cam covers and decided all that black simply made the engine bay too dark.

Hey, your car, your money, etc. I still think the contrast would look better, whether polished or black.

Matt

I was really wondering why you cut the notch and now I see why, I guess since the intake is hand made not all the intakes were made the same or else I got one from a different batch, mine does not come close to touching the hose but now I see that yours was to close for comfort.

Also, can you PM me the name of the filter you are using and its part number, I like yours much better :D

By the bydee by by, I have the currently bolted-in stock plug cover, so there's no need for me to trash the powder coated one. If I do make a change, I'd get the spare chrome plated, as I've never seen the cover polished to satisfaction.

I got all the bolts for the Precat and shields off today except for two. I left them to soak overnight, as I've snapped two 1/4" extensions trying to get them off! Off to Sears to get ones that don't say "Taiwan" on them. No offence, them is the facts. I can only get a 1/4" socket in the space, so don't bother saying use a bigger drive. The important thing is that the bolt heads are still A1.

Al, this must be another 'different batch' thing, as its just the filter that came with it. This one would have been bought roughly 2 years ago. The filter has no markings on it at all, and I had it out of the car and cleaned it thoroughly.

:agree:

Think the Black would look good :-D

Matt, what an excellent colour match on the pipes and Cam cover the engine bay will look superb when finished (as always)

What about doing away with the Boost transducer and fit a new mechanical boost gauge? :?

I think the black spark-plug cover would help accent the cam-belt cover

I have all three, yellow, black, silver; so I can swap them around and proceed accordingly.

Look deeply into the yellow. Deeper. Deeper.

Randy, perchance over the holidays I'll gitter' done.

BTW don't get any carb-cleaner overspray on your headlight brackets as it'll strip what thin, cheap black paint is on them right off. I stripped, painted & clearcoated these two & will put them back on tomorrow.

By the by; I tried painting those brackets Norfolk Yellow but the color looked too light before clearcoating, and too dark after clearcoating. I have white paint for my other Elan and had no trouble at all getting an exact match. Either yellow is very sensitive to paint thickness or the company didn't match the color correctly.

I'll get to the engine today if my back's up to the task... it's been bothering me lately. The doc's taking his sweet time scheduling me for a foraminotomy.

Randy, PM me your email address. I was gonna send you this, as I thought you might want to see the 'bay of a yellow Kia Elan. From the looks of this they continued to offer Norfolk Yellow. Anyone have a color palette for the Kia?
