Was the plastic one the same fit as the metal?

I had wondered whether to go for a Rockauto replacement e.g. ACDelco 15-5221 as it looks like they are poppet valves and might allow a bit more water through.

If the Scan-Tech unit does not work out, I can support Geoff's find of the unit cited above. It appears identical to what I installed on Smaug. Vacuum tube push-on is too big, so you'll need to make an adapter to fit the Lotus' pipe. Once in place, lots of heat!

Just throwing this out there. It is an exact part number from a widely available manufacturer. This came on the 1969-1973 Mustang & Cougar with Factory A/C, but I xreffed it on Rock Auto from a 1988 Ford E-150 with the 302 V8. It's probably used on a LOT of Fords.

Final follow-up, after eight full weeks, a dozen emails, three phone messages (never returned) and a paypal claim, I got my money back today. Now that's customer service.

Tore into my FIAT spider this weekend, the heater valves are NOT the same. What ever this guy was selling on eBay was not for a FIAT spider but obviously for some other FIAT car

Just an update...

After a bit of work I found the valve I was looking for...

I already have the black plastic valve fitted on the daily, but for the project car it had to be OEM. So this is what I ended up with.

Price was about a tenner, just over really.

So another option to add to the list
