Hi Nohair,
I have had the same problem ie; finding someone to fit the hood and seals that I
bought from Trimtech.
Today I spoke to a company in Crowfield (near Ipswich) who said he had done one
previously, but remembered the difficulty fitting the seals. He normally charges
£200.00 for a Boxter or Z3, but it would nead to be more for the Lotus because
of the extra work.
If you want to give him a call, here are the details; Howard Sand 01449 710006.

Perhaps you could get yours done first and let me now how good he is

Regards

There's another Trim Tech that will fit Trimtech hoods:

Enright- sinclaires have had my car for a month but werent keen to do a trimtech hood....well corection, they would do it, but they'd have carted the car off to the south coats somewhere.

No sweat Nohair, but I'm told that they know the other Trimtech's hoods, and do a bang up, guaranteed job at a guaranteed price. When I was looking at going down the Trimtech route, I came to realise that all of that is FAR from routine.

Hi NH, Gerald at GST (Newmarket) is not keen on replacing the seals as it is very time consuming, and
if he charges the full time taken it would appear to some people that he was "ripping them off"
He is , however sh1t hot on Elans and I can highly recomend his mechanical work, and, as he is ex Lotus,
knows the species well. (he also runs an Elan for himself now)

He also knows a lot of Elan people, and is a great source of knowledge ie who does what, who is selling what, who knows someone that knows someone. I wasn't suggesting whether he will do the work on a roof or not, but that his knowledge is as great as ours' combined, and is a source there for tapping in to!

Not only that, he has so much enthusiasm for all things Lotus he would talk all day for free if you let him!

And he is reasonably local to the folically challenged thread originator. :-D

Dave Eds,
When the joblist is done(& its a long one), im hoping my car will resemble yours. Presently im running around in it with; just a scrap drivers seat, no doorcards, a leaky roof and the battery drains overnight. Pretty wearng on the enthusiam when the temp outside has been -5deg.

I totally agree, but when I asked about replacing my seals he was unable to recomend anyone, hence
the reason why I have been searching around.

I think the seals on my car are pretty much ok, so Ive decided not to go the trimtech route and go with this fella:

http://www.thecartrimmingcompany.co.uk/ ... .php?cat=1

Went round to see him on saturday and hed actually got an Elan in his workshop that he'd just finished doing. First I need to get the interior back from Mel @ lotus.
