Will an SPC hardtop fit an S2?

Postby GusMangoFish » Wed 21.01.2009, 19:20

I've got an Elan SE hardtop. I wasn't sure what make it is, but having read this thread: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=11612 , mine looks exactly the same. So, it must be a SPC Design Hardtop. Bloody good it is too! :)

I used to have an Elan SE (unfortunately now gone), and am looking to buy another Elan in the coming couple of months. If I buy an S2, is the shape and roof positions exactly the same as an SE. i.e. would I be able to fix my roof (that I kept) onto an S2 without any probs / alterations?

I've searched the forums and googled for the answer, and visited the SPC website, but can't find any info as to whether the top fits the S2 as well as the SE Elan.

Thanks :)

Yes I'm sure it will..

There were only very few subtle changes between SE and the S2.

Suspension, wheels seats

If you don't buy a car you would be able to sell the Hardtop pretty easily.

as far as im aware it should fit in theory, however every hardtop is tailored to the car its going onto as every car is slightly different, you could be fine, but it might need a little tweeking. talk to spc, im sure they'd be happy to advise or help you if need be.

I have an SPC Hardtop on my S2 and confirm it fits without any problems at all other than the fact that whilst all the hardtops are the same, all the cars are slightly different and a little bit of minor adjustment may be needed. This can be achieved by reposioning the front clamps and the rear fastenings. My hardtop has also been fitted to my NA in the past again without major difficulty.

Excellent news. Thanks Nige.

I'll mess about with the clamp postitions etc. once I've bought my car.

... and I have one [hard top] for sale, but I'd rather sell it with the car.

Yep - if an appropriate offer is tabled.

Not "Why? Are you selling?"

but

"Why on earth are you selling....?"
