When you use the quote function, how do you get the bold "username said:" bit to appear? :?

Like this?

just make sure the opening quote marker (inside the [] brackets) is - quote="paulwatkins"

e.g. [ quote="paulwatkins" ] [ /quote ] (make sure you remove the spaces - they have been added so that the text will show). The text between the two markers will then be placed in a box as above.

sounds like he is gearing up to battle Geoff in the "made up quotes" section . . . :-D

also, if you just hit the "quote" box on someone's reply instead of hitting the "post reply" button, it will set up the quote for you and you can then remove some of the quote as needed to show what you wanted . . .

Go to your profile, and click on the "Board Preferences" tab. Over on the left side, click on the "Edit posting defaults" link. Make sure the first item, "Enable BBCode by default," is marked YES. If it isn't, the quote things don't work. I went into my profile and marked BBCode -- NO, then I tried a post with quotes, and when I previewed my post, it looked just like the problem you're having. If it's not that, I don't know.. Hope that helps, though.

Apparently, as you can see by this post of mine, if you're quoting a post that is messed up that way, it doesn't work when you do it either.

This one was good, so when I used the quote button, it worked fine. The last one was posted with BBCode off (apparently), so when I quote it, it doesn't work.
