Has anyone tried to remove this piece and if so how'd you do it? I am referring to the leather covered piece that's attached by 2 screws to the top of the windshield (if you know what I mean) and has the roof latch hooks embedded in it. It looks to me like you can only get it out (without damaging it of course) by removing the A pillar covers. And how do you do that???

Blair,
Just had a look at the one on mine...by flashlight, it seems to have four screws rather than two and it’s only just "under-lapping" the side pieces as though it might be possible to move it over to one side then drop it down???

I couldn't remember how many screws it has. Four is probably right. There's screws for the latch hooks for sure as well. I did some mirror wiring work last fall and was poking around in there. I didn't release every screw but I did find that it the piece slid into the A pillar cover quite far and that it might not be possible to remove it without taking the A pillar covers off.

The header trim comes off quite easy..bols and mounts..
The A post inner trim is a mare..
there's two hidden screws under the leather at the top edge, you have to peel back the leater. you may Find the A post seal may over lap the excess leather. Sorry on mobile, no pics

If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The N/A-Team.

Dave, do you think you can remove the header trim without taking off the A post trim?
