S2 Alloys Group Buy

Postby DaveB » Mon 23.02.2009, 21:58

Hi all

I have been searching for S2 wheels (to put on my SE) for some time and have so far managed to miss out on every set that has come up.

So, having given up looking, I put on a set of new 15” OZ wheels that I bought from Lotus Aftersales... which got me thinking again....
...So I contacted Lotus and asked what price they would do if I were to put in a bulk order of S2 16” alloys, part number A100G6026L. The reply was £100 plus VAT, which I think is pretty reasonable.

Anybody interested?

Now, I don’t want to step on anybody’s toes, so if someone here knows the guys at Lotus Aftersales and wishes to take over, I am more than happy to step aside... In the meantime I am going to get the ball rolling.

The S2 alloys would be sent to individual dealers, with payment to them upon collection, in the usual Aftersales way.

So, to gauge interest, please put your NAME, LOCAL DEALER and QUANTITY of S2 alloys you would like.
I will NOT order ANYTHING until I have PM’d everybody as I will need ‘real’ names, phone numbers, etc, for the Lotus dealers.

Now, being new to this forum lark, I am not sure how to get a list going..... :smt102 ....but here goes....

NAME.............DEALER.................QTY
DaveB ............Bell & Colvill...........4

:( ...I'm sure that's not the correct way to do a list....perhaps someone can edit?....and then let me know how to do it!

I'll help you out with the "how to do a list" thing (I think you can sort out what dealers when you put together the real names/addresses stuff):
The way it generally works is, people who want in will use the quote button, or just cut and paste, and add themselves to the list.

ID -- QTY

1. DaveB -- 4
2. Max and Andy -- 4

Dave

I don't need S2 wheels but they are popular and the price you've secured from Lotus Aftersales (presumably Neil Lovelock) is excellent.
I hope you get the support from fellow Forum members that your endeavours deserve (remember, times are hard).
Thanks for picking this up and running with it.

Cheers Tweetdriver63....lists are simple....should have been obvious to me!

....Welcome on board Max & Andy, you are my first takers of my first group buy....give yourselves a prize

Sy V....I actually spoke to a gent by the name of Aiden Coughlan, do you know them up there? (or down there!)

Monty...b*gger :( ....I didn't mean to upset anybody  ....
...tell you what though, if yours have tyres etc, they should still be worth a mint, A set of SE wheels with good tyres went for £560 recently on ebay, remember that this buy is for alloys only, no valves, tyres, centre caps etc, etc. Wheels with tyres on still seem to attract a good price, Get 'em on ebay now or....wait until this buy passes, it should be a 'one off'.....

...if it helps, if I ever bump into you, I'll buy you a beer or two....(small compensation I know....but I genuinely feel guilty)

Now....lunch I think

Dave don`t be daft, you`ve got nothing to feel guilt about infact you doing a good thing with the Group buy for the S2 wheels :smt023
Like you said i can always stick them on ebay

Oh and IIRC you can get the SE 15" wheels from lotus for £50 each

BTW, i never say no to a free drink :smt044

Good luck with the group buy

dapinky...

.....I would love to have you onboard this 'buy'....

If you want to put the ones you bought back on ebay, they are bound to get more than you paid me  ...

....I'll even bid

If not... we may have to organise a 'group sell'....!

Dave,

Unusually for me, i can't get in on this one.....

....Angie's already got the wheels on her car, thus freeing up the wheels with Yokohama tyres to go on mine (I love A008R's).

If i were to get involved now, she'd want the same wheels on hers, and that would put it very dear with 8 wheels + new tyres :(

so (for now) i'm going to stick to the 15" ones (besides which, I actually quite like them) as i don't need any extra clearence for my brakes.

Unfortunately for me - knowing what others have shelled out in the past - It is a bargain. I hope this all comes together for you.

As a side note, if anyone out there in LEC-land is feeling uncomfortable at trusting a new member with cash for a group buy - I can vouch for the honesty of a man who sent me well packaged wheels and tyres by courier before my cheque had cleared (possibly before he even received it in the post). :-)

Be patient, Dave. S2 alloys are sought after so I'm surprised the take-up of this group buy has not been quicker...except the economic climate is not favourable to commiting to a spend of over £400.

I'm tempted but my spend list is long enough already & I like my feds.

Aw shucks Mr dapinky...

*blushes*

....thanks for that glowing recommendation on my honesty...

........but it was only a mirror of what I got from you... :smt007 ....

right, enough of that, I'm a married man.....besides there is the added beauty that this group buy means no cash comes my way...

...it goes to the Lotus dealer who supplies them....

....but obviously any cash my way is appreciated :smt043

Why are alloy wheels so expencive ? On American Chopper. Paul Jr does a cartoon drawing of a wheel he fancies. He then passes it over to Pooly who pops it into the computer. Then over to Quin and his CNC machine. Out pops the best looking custom wheels you have ever seen. Maxine :smt061
