They are actually down to £9.99 + £3.95 for up to 3 postage (I got 3) they do charge at a very low rate, maybe not enough to offset some alarms but 300mA should help charge staniding batteries carefull and they can be left permantly on and have a long thin lead (so can so out through door seals etc.

They seem to be working fine so far for me.

Note that this is not a "smart" charger. It does not monitor the current state of your battery, only turning on as needed.

I used virtually the same thing many years ago, and found that it actually cooks off the battery's solvent, thereby shortening the life of your battery. Yes, it will keep it charged & functioning just fine, until the day it finally kills it.

You will probably find your battery is significantly degraded if left on over the Winter as the drain will be nowhere near 300mA. 300mA over 5 months is >1000 A.hrs. You get what you pay for!

Oooops, oh well I was away for 3 months so its really to help trickle charge a bit of juice back into the spare batteries into the garage and the spare cars I have lying around.......I really must reduce my parts!

Fine, I will reserve it for recharging the battery when they drop down in charge rate and for trickling the charge back into batteries before using anything higher.

I know a battery will not discharge a huge amount a day, but coupled with a car immobiliser and alarm system and stood outside for a period of time......assuming it charges 50% of the time then thats 300mAh x 12 = 3.6Ah/day, but the battery will drain around 1% per day (on 60Ah battery thats 600mAh) plus alarm (50mAh) then its a......oooo.....er overcharge of around 3A/day.....think I have answered my own questions.

Ok, so assume its good enough to bring batteries back up to a full charge then take them off?

If you've got a 24 hour timer, you could turn it on for an hour or so a day.
