Dump Valve Questions and Reviews

Please slap me on the wrists for starting a new topic regarding dump valves but I have been searching posts for some time and still find myself unclear as to whether I should invest in a dump valve for Trigger or not? I am one who has always like the chattering sound that the turbo makes upon gear changes but am also becoming more aware of the reason and damaging properties that it may incur over time?

I would be interested to know peoples thoughts on yes or no to installing a dump valve and also how to install one, which type to get and how to avoid sounding like the rest of my age group driving round town all night ... i.e pimped up Saxo's lol. I am aware that alot have got a Baileys dump valve, are these regarded as the best? and where is best to get one from?

Sorry for all the questions but afraid I am on a learning curve and would like to pick everyone's brains

So there is still no certain answer as to whether the turbo stalling action is indeed bad or that a dump valve could leak and hinder the situation? Also, demon tweeks sell a kit for £32? I have read it can cost about £100?

The "kit" which Demon Tweeks sells is the fitting kit (ie the T-piece and bits of hose). You still have to buy the dump valve itself, which will be almost £100 I think.

Yes, you're right, there are still people who think it's necessary and people who don't.

I've got one, but I'm not convinced it's doing any good. However it's properly fitted and Elanscan logs show the boost to be OK, so it's not doing any harm either.

What is the installation like for a novice lol? I could be know as a Computer Geek but still learning on becoming a Mechanic Geek if there is such a thing. I have sourced the two types of valves available from Bailey's and the fitting kit, do you have the re-circulation type? I am not sure whether I want the woooosh sound or not as I like the stock chattering sound and don't want rid of some sound altogether lol ...

Like CJ, I'm interested to know if there's much difference between the dump valves on the market.
The Baileys seems the easiest to come by but does anyone have good / bad experiences they can share with these or any other model?
Also, can anyone explain the difference between the venturi type and the regular one?

Watch your terminology:
Dump valves open solely due to excess pressure.
Blow off valves are opened by the vacuum produced at the inlet manifold.

I would imagine the venturi/trumpet is there purely to let more people know you have a chav whistle!

Still not convinced of the merits for stock/medium boost levels.

It would be nice to get an expert opinion as to whether our cars would benefit from a dump valve or blow off valve, which ever we are discussing. The stalling sound of the turbo sounds good but if it is doing harm I would like to fix it especially if there are benefits from such improvements. Not sure I'm going to pay out of something that is a bit of an unknown and also no idea how to install ones yet.

Dissent lol. Yes I have read that but also read that it could allow loss of air too? I'm not keen on getting one unless I know which it will do.
