Bonnet release mechanism

Postby paulwatkins » Tue 31.03.2009, 20:04

Can anyone advise if there is any adjustments that can be made at the catchplate?

For some reason, the striker pin (within the spring) appears to be catching on the bonnet release slider assembly.
When I pull the release handle, I can hear a click, but then the bonnet doesnt pop up to the catch position. It needs to be helped past the sticking point!

Anyone have any ideas?

if not...

A couple of suggestions...

Turn the pin through 180º in case it’s slightly bent.

Catch plates usually have oversize holes in the bodywork to allow a bit of adjustment.

Could someone who has the two extra adjustable stops at the front end of the bonnet measure the position relative to the front lip... and is the bolt in the centre of the section it’s fixed to?

Thank you
Ray

Morning Jay,

I thought my ... might spur someone into getting the tape measure out.

Having said that even when I have the measurements I’m not sure how easy it would be to get underneath in order to fix a locknut in position.

My bonnet is slightly on the pi$$ with not having the extra stops fitted.

I may have to make one that sticks or screws to the fibreglass.

Good afternoon Ray.

Sorry i can`t help you with that as i`ve only got the ones on the inner wing, IIRC Dico has them on the Blue beast but you got no chance of him replying as he`s addicted to facebook :poke:
