Changes to LEC Management - Announcement Please Read

Postby Sy V » Fri 01.05.2009, 10:23

Doug and I have had extensive talks over the last few weeks and we're both eager to move things forward as far as LEC goes. After having spent the past few years as the LEC administrator I have decided, for a number of reasons, that I need to take a break from the daily routine. I'm truly pleased that the site and the LEC community has continued to grow whilst I've been at the helm and am confident that it will continue to grow, allowing us to enjoy our cars and keep them on the road where they're meant to be. Furthermore, we have established good relations with Lotus and Club Lotus as well as our friends over at the Lotus Esprit Forum. However, I'm not moving on I'm moving up and I'm going to join Doug as Godfather. We intend to sit around the pool drinking pina-coladas dipping our toes in occasionally to make sure the temperature is being maintained at the desired level.

So what now for the site and its running? Well we have asked Nige to take over the helm of LEC on a day to day basis and I'm pleased to announce that he has accepted. Therefore with immediate effect Nige is the new LEC Administrator and has carte blanche for the day to day running of the site, it's his bat, his balls and his stumps (Doug and myself will be umpires)!

I'll leave it to Nige to tell you how he sees things shaping up on his watch but we have already invited a number of long-standing members who have regularly contributed to making LEC what it is today to join the management team as moderators, Nige will announce who they are once they have confirmed they are content with this new role.

So my parting thought as LEC administrator is to say a big thank you to all LEC members old and new for what you do to make LEC what it is and I ask that you continue to support the LEC management team and Nige in the same way you have supported me. All the very best to all of you, but remember I'll still be around!

Yours aye

Sy

When I was asked by Sy and Doug to take over as LEC Administrator and become responsible for the day to day running of the site my first thought was wow! Rapidly followed by why me? (Then I said yes  ) Then how on earth do follow 2 class acts like Doug and Sy?

The first thing I want to say is thank you to Sy for the huge effort he has put into LEC over the years it has been a labour of love and LEC would simply not be what it is without the effort he has put in. I think he deserves a break and I'm delighted that he is staying by the poolside and hope the Pina-Colada and the pool stay at just the right temperature.

The second thing I want to say is LEC will stay much as it is, a community of people with a common interest in one thing, the Elan M100, so owners past, present and future or anyone else with an interest in our car will find a welcome here. At Donington this year a couple of people told me that they thought this was probably the best single model car website they had found, I want to keep it that way and look to making it even better. How we make it better is down to you, tell us what you want to see, if you have found great ideas for web based groups like us elsewhere, then let me or the mod team know. I'm no technical whizz on computers so I don't know what's possible or not but I will consider your ideas and look at what can be done.

Although we are, and will remain, predominantly web based I am keen to progressively give us a strong and professional physical presence at 'real world events' such as Donington and elsewhere. It's this presence that has allowed the relationship with Lotus, Club Lotus and LEF to be built up, both of which I see as important and valuable to us into the future.

Thats about it from me, I'm honoured to have been asked to do this and delighted to accept, my aim now, along with the rest of the management team is to do my best to fill a very big pair of shoes!

Cheers,

Nige

Sy,
I know we (and others) have not always seen eye to eye during your period of head honcho, but that's not to say you haven't done a good job. Good luck with your retirement !

I'm sure that the good ship LEC is in safe hands with Nige - I just hope he realises how much time he is going to need !

Sy, I trust that you will be still coming to our regular annual events so that we can keep in touch with you. Well done for all your efforts over the years, a fair proportion of the sites success is down to you.

Nige, you've been the main stay behind the events at Donington and Hethel. Ferrying around stands and kit for display has not gone unnoticed. Furthermore your enthusiasm for our little plastic cars seems to know no bounds. To Doug & Sy, I think you have made a very wise choice and Nige thank god you accepted!

Hag deflector, you might need to find some bigger batteries for your leaving present as I don't think it will reach crude felon as-is. Thank you both for all the efforts you've put into LEC and best wishes to Nige for the future.

Sy, so sad to hear you're taking a back seat, your exceptionally friendly and welcoming demeanour instantly made me feel part of the LEC family when I met you guys for the first time at Dunston Hall last year. I know everyone appreciates the hard work you have put in to get LEC to the the stage it is.

Nige, you know what you've let yourself in for and you still said yes  Like what you said about physical presence.

Thanks Sy, and Good Luck Nige!

Many thanks, Sy, for carrying the LEC torch with distinction.

Good luck, Nige. You have big boots to fill, but I'm sure that you will be a worthy successor.

Sy and Doug, you have my deepest regards and thank you for all the hard work.

Nige, you know you can count on my full support.

As I often say to people 'I couldn't run my Elan without LEC'' (and that's the truth!)

Thanks and regards
