Im going to be changing the head gasket over the next week or two so imagine that I will be pulling off a lot of hoses. Having changed a coolant hose already I was wondering if there any special pliers which make getting the original hose clamps off any easier than just using a standard pair of pliers?
Anything to make things a bit easier

While the people who made these pliers were doing it for cutting shapes into ceramic tiles they unwittingly made an excellent tool for crimping hose and CV gaiter clips up.
With a bit of grinding on the stops to get the blades to meet, they might be OK for cutting them off as well.
