Interior lamp

Postby Epsilon » Tue 12.05.2009, 19:50

My interior lamps (the ones of the interior mirror) as well as the one in the trunk never worked since I bought the car. I've checked the fuse #14 next to the passenger's feet and it's plain fine. Other electrical components appear to work fine.

I found the electrical schema of the interior lamps but That's of little help as I cannot decode it.

Could some gentle person help me with this ?

cheers,
Ludovic

you checked the bulbs right? 501 capless type. failing that check if you have a voltage at the holder, after that i wouldnt know. but im sure someone who knows about these things will be along soon.

For the boot light check it's not been disconected at the switch..

Can you switch the mirror lights on manually?

Sorry for the late response.

I actually did not think about checking the bulbs. I just had a look at the mirror and I wonder how I'm supposed to get them out, that does not look straightforward.

I also tried to switch them on manually but no luck: both the switches on the mirror and pulling the headlamps knob have no effect.

Thanks,
Ludovic

The chances of losing a wire off the back is quite likely too..

I've taken a few pics, cos it may help:-

Gently put a screwdriver in this slot and release the whole light cluster...

This will allow you access to the wires for con checking as well, check the connectors as well

Use your screwdriver again from the rear of the cluster to remove the transparent cover

The red circles:- are held in place my small lugs

The green circles:- have legs that are part of the transparent perspex cover

a bit of teasing from the rear will remove this without any breaking...

Thanks a lot for the pics, I'll have a look at that ASAP and report back my findings.

I just changed the two bulbs and I can now see in the darkness of my garage !

Thank you for the help and especially for the clear pictures, it just took me less than 10 minutes to get them changed thanks to it.
