There are six bolts on the back of the compressor housing and six on the turbine housing that need to be loosened to allow the bearing housing (centre section) to rotate. Removing the wastegate actuator helps as well. The turbo must then be mounted to the manifold. after doing this rotate the centre section until you have access to all of the ports and the turbo compressor outlut is pointed down. Double check wastegate placement and if its all good, re tighten all of the turbo bolts. It may seem simple enough in theory but practice proves time consuming.

On a related topic there is an unused bracket on the turbo that,on the ones I did, i cut to allow a better fit. Once you look at the turbo you'll see which one I mean. Its a small thing that makes a world of difference when installing it.

i think she means this one:

i only partly cut mine in case i need that other threaded hole, but now that it's all put together KNOW even if i did need it that it will be a TOTAL PITA to reach :D as advised by Marie, chop the the entire thing off leaving just the part used to pull the housing tight.

that's just the pipe, no coating, just the light. it has been hit with a sanding disk. i won't coat mine, it's going to be wrapped in header wrap anyway :p my lower radiator hose curves toward the downpipe, the M100 does not. i need the added heat protection.

Marie, did you also have to rotate the actuator rod? i ended up turning mine 180 degrees to get the thing to clear the fittings and oil drain.

the LGM downpipe will only work on the GT series turbos with standard 5 bolt exhaust housing. if you are running any aftermarket downpipe for the stock IHI they will not interchange. you may be lucky enough to chop the flange and weld on the Garrett one, but to answer your question...NO, you cannot interchange.

i'm not sure what your GT downpipe is, 2.25 or 2.5, but i am going with 2.5 all the way back without catalytic converters.

Matt,

Yes it replaces the PCE, LGM down pipe joins the triangle flange on the Exhaust and IIRC it will fit stock, 2 1/4" and 2 1/12" systems

I have a 2.5in system and the triangular flange WILL fit the LGM downpipe - I had the Piper and LGM's downpipe together before my Piper was fitted.....
CAPETOWN - RED 92 SE: V5 and LGM Turbo Installed

Your quite welcome. I can't wait to see what you get on the dyno. Should be good. BTW I love the DP all sanded like that. Makes me want to take mine back off and polish it up.

you know, that's straight sanding wheel right there and i will hit it with a 120 grit flapper later.

but back to my question, did you rotate the actuator rod? i only have the stock actuator, not the higher psi one. if you can source one for a good price i might consider swapping. nothing major, i have the dual-stage boost controller

anyhow, just wanted everyone to know that i "might" be creating an upgraded intake manifold. nothing major, it would actually allow everything to remain stock like lines and piping. should flow better than the (4) port 1.8L intake on the top end and still give the great low end response. i'm waiting on some stuff/flanges. if i sell the intakes they will come with a Isuzu Rodeo TB that is .200" larger ID and will allow all stock sensors to be used!!!

I have the 12psi version which allows the actuator rod to rotate 360 degrees. Much easier for install. I was looking at the rodeo TB vs the stock M100. There are quite a few differences like I don't have the sensor on the top of the TB. I have 2 vaccium lines and a idle pintel like on a Honda

post a pic of your TB for me if you can...or someone. i can always make the intake with a 2.5-2.75" port and let folks drill and tap their own holes.

i think traction is the biggest issue with our 0-60 times, so i wouldnt use it as a gauge to measure the turbo conversion by. that said i could be wrong but a midrange measure will show the improvemnt for effectivly.

:agree:

Even with a chip,2 1/4 exhaust and quaife it`s difficult to keep traction. 0-60 is unimportant. For me it`s how quick the turbo comes in when in lower revs as the stock turbo just takes to long

remind me, did you go with the 2554 or 2560? not to completely generalize the turbos, but 2554=low/mid power while the 2560=mid/high.
