The above LSD supposedly is an Isuzu Gemini JT150 (Japan domestic version) original factory option LSD unit.
What do you think?
http://specs.amayama.com/isuzu/gemini/1992_11/From the above link, you will find that LSD is listed as an option for Japanese domestic market.

MIght look like an LSD if you're on LSD while you look at it. Or it might look like a big blue spider.

The photo you posted is of a standard diff. There are many ways of doing LSDs -- the 2 main types are torque sensitive and speed sensitive. Within those, things get complicated since, before the electronics of recent cars, torque sensitive (either clutched or geared) were generally used. Clutched used a bunch of clutches and geared used wormed or helical gears. New cars mostly use speed sensitive LSDs in combination with anti-lock brakes to control what happens at each wheel via computer.
I don't know what the optional factory LSD used but it sure won't have just the 4 cogged gears in your photo -- there is nothing in there to alter what happens between the wheels.
The Quaife LSD (wormed torque sensitive) as used in Isuzu Impulse/ M100 looks like this -- which is much more complex than the one you posted:
