Sorry to see the damage on such a good car. My two penn'orth is get it repaired at somewhere and by someone who knows what they are doing with glassfibre. Any old body shop can slap filler in and blow some paint on. It'll look good for a while but won't last. Word of mouth recommendation based on previous experience is often good advice.

Sorry to here your Elan was damaged, am I missing something but as the other party reversed into you should you not be making a claim on his insurance. Ok I know it is easy just to ring your insurance company up and let them deal with it, but on my last two knocks, I dealt direct with the other parties insurance company for one and the second the guy paid direct.
I had informed my insurance but not claimed and with the second one they said I had a few weeks to decided what to do and that included action through legal protection but he paid up.

I've done it through my insurance. Of course what I don't know is whether the other guy will admit it was his fault. Apparently since the only witness was my passenger, that doesn't count. So no witnesses. Hopefully he will tell the truth and it will be fine.
They say worst case I will have to pay 50% of my excess , but my no claims (which is protected) won't be affected.

Don't accept the suggestion that your passenger's evidence as a witness has no value unless he/she is obviously inclined to dishonesty (which I assume is not the case). The other driver will have to lie, before any question arises of your account being doubted.

The account by your passenger will still be of value, but with less weight than if they were totally independent - otherwise every rugby club on tour in a minibus could crash with total impunity!!!

Oh man! I hope you get this sorted without too much problem. It's always heartbreaking to see a damaged M100.
