Rear Bumper Grille

Postby Nickydee » Tue 30.06.2009, 08:42

My rear bumper grille has come away from the bumper. It doesnt look original as it simply a piece of mesh which has been crudely cut - does the job through. There is no obvious way of fixing it back and it look like the previous owner relied on a few blobs of mastic which haven't lasted.

Any ideas on a more statisfactory solution would be appreciated.

My griles (front and back) are glued in place with blobs of Sikaflex - looks original/factory as far as I can tell...

(Lotus like Sikaflex - they like glue in general - look at the Elise/Evora...)

Thanks for this - Looks like I am trying to overcomplicate things - I guess Sikaflex to Lotus serves the same purpose as Gritfill to the construction industry - now theres a thought!

Mine too!

Sikaflex is a common Lotus solution - especially for trim.

Hope all is well with you, Nick.

The workshop manual says to stick it in with sikaflex.

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it
