Standard exhaust replacement

Hi Guys, anyone know the cheapest place to replace my exhaust.....i don't want to go down the performance route as these have problems with the turbo overboosting and i don't want that problem.

Failing that is there a performance exhaust that doesn't give these issues.

if you just want a std lotus system Id be tempted to get it custom made or buy and off the shelf stainless system.......only because of the fact that once its on its on forever and you'll never need another....unless you do something to it.......
whilst its a bit more expensive if youre planning on keeping the car then its the cheaper option...
I paid £275 for a complete system in 2.25" dia.....I could have had a copy of the original or a 2.5".....

not having the piper/peco exhaust I cant comment on the effects so I'll leave that to one of the other guys......

there are places such as Paul Mattys and S&Js who do std exhausts in stainless but not sure of the price off hand

Both Piper & Peco systems will cause boost creep. Whether or not this creeps to 0.94 bar, therefore causing overboost, will vary between Elans & will also be more likely in cold weather when the chargecooler is more effective.
The boost creep problem is caused by the larger diameter, which is also what allows the increased performance.

I've not looked at SJ's list but, if the above price is correct, this sounds very reasonable. Quicksilver also do a stainless system which does not cause overboost. I believe this is because it is a 2" system. I don't know much more about it than that though.

It will have to be 15% VAT, no matter what their website says ! Charging anything more than 15%, for VAT, is illegal.

I have the Piper 2.25" fitted to my S2. I kept the Precat and have the cat system. It doesn't suffer from boost creep, and it is not too noisy.

Well had the exhaust replaced this weekend....Other one virtually fell off, the beautiful series of patched up,bodged up mess finally gave way......(thanks previous owner)

I had it done at a place called "top gear" very close to me in Doncaster after much bartering i managed to get it for £270 fitted (all in)....It is a 2.25 system stainless steel with a bigger upswept chrome ovel at the rear.....Deeper tone but not harsh or ricer in anyway.....5th gear 50 - 60 mph no annoying "drone" only deep loud fun when booting it....
