Newbie in Bristol

Finally after longing for a Elan for years I took the plunge and bought one last week, not the best example ive seen but something to tinker with .already enjoying the drive and the fact it needs a bit of tlc, im in my element.

Hi i live in Kingswood ,i did buy it localish from long ashton ,i did write yesterday that i was looking forward to tinkering ,well my dream came true today as it conked out just taking it for a spin around the block (charging the battery tonight and starting my investigation tomorrow ) the car is black and has a lot of upgrades inc ap brakes ,peco exhaust and compo wheels with toyo tyres ,are there any local meets planned in Bristol in the near future ,thanks Neil

I live in Ashton not too far from you, pop in for a chat if your out for a spin, although I've not owed my Elan that long so my knowledge is limited but would be keen to have a look at your car as yours is set up for the track which is my aim

Your car was a very good buy for the price it sold, especially with all the added extras ,,,, just a shame about the paint, from what I read on the add it was originally red then sprayed over with black , still it would make an excellent track car..

Sounds like you need to keep it plugged into a battery conditioner to keep the battery topped up (they go flat in less than 14 days). I have some battery conditioners for £20 including postage if you are interested

....all I can say is what a bargain!

It was a car i spent the best part of 2 years trying to get the previous owner in Newquay to sell to me, and he always refused as he was intent on tracking it - every time he did an upgrade, i seemed to end up with his 'standard' parts (He always needed the parts sold on ebay to be collected in person within 2 days of end of auction, which put off a lot of bidders, but my sister in law lives 100 yards up the road from him!).

Eventually he agreed to sell it me (1 week after i bought the blue one!), but mark ended up with it for a bargain price......

....you got it even cheaper. and with a plethora of spares to enable you to put the standard bits back on if you want/need to.

From memory, it needs a bit of TLC but most of the parts are with it. Bodywork needs a bit of time spending, but it is usable as it is, if you aren't too fussy.
