Having done over 6 hours travelling, round trip, I'm a little miffed (to say the least) to discover that HPI shows it as an insurance write-off!
I can't be sure the guy knew but I have my suspicions afterall, he's a trader.
It did drive OK but with other cosmetic work, I'm going to give it a wide berth.
Oh well, I guess my search continues.

Nope - this one has had FNS damage repaired (not completely satisfactorily - but okay and retrievable).
If anyone wants to know anything more about it's condition (from a purchase perspective), then feel free to drop me a line, as i viewed it with Richard, took a (long) test drive and have an elanscan log.
denim-dick wrote:Always welcome your opinions David but this had definately been repaired - the passenger door needed some (quite a bit actually) adjustment and there was a crack to the post itself.
I was lucky enough the have the legendary(?) Mr Pinky along (complete with laptop - he looked extremely cool anyway) to offer his considerable advice - thaks again Dave.
I'm even more convinced that the Guy knew - the circumstances (no history, can't get hold of the previous owners blah, blah) are exactly the same as an Elise he sold on Ebay earlier - that too was a Cat D. Be wary anyone who is thinking about buying from there!
Some nice S2's on autotrader/pistonheads right now - just a shame that they're a little too expensive for my budget @ 9k plus.
I have a bit of a dilema though - I had thought I wanted a Medina green Elan but I find myself strangely attracted to the Yellow, Silk Red, White, & Azure Blue.
I guess I have some thinking to do.
Any suggestions??
