New Owner - Gary's Famous Medina Green S2

Postby Windyfarmer » Wed 14.10.2009, 21:27

Hello to all.
The Famous Medina Green S2 now lives in South West of Lake District. I collected it from Gary on 3rd October and drove home via an overnight stop in the Peak District.
It's many years since I have driven a soft top - previously had 2x Turner 950s in 1960/70 period - but the pleasures (and the pains) soon returned. weather on the journey home was somewhat variable so the hood was up & down like a brides nighty.

Whilst my main home is in Cumbria I also spend a lot of time in Perthshire and Angus, probably up there at least one weekend in three.
I'd be pleased to make contact with any members in either location.
Regards JB

JB, welcome to LEC and Elan ownership. As convertibles go they are really very civilised but still have plenty of British character (leaks). As I'm sure Gary has said this site is a gold mine of information, of which a suprisingly large amount is relevant. If we can help you through Elan ownership in any way please just ask.

Windy,
Welcome.

Whereabouts in Angus? Maybe see you there sometime, or if you can make it a bit further to Aberdeen or Balmoral, you could meet up with Archie & me one weekend.

I'll be in the Lake district at the end of the month for a long weekend, staying at Troutbeck. If the weather's still nice I'll be in a blue Elan. If they've started spreading salt, I'll be in a green Subaru.

I hope you're going to continue Gary's habit of buying the first round for all Elan owners at every event.

 Damn, If I'd have known that I would have reminded Gary when I met him at Donny this year.

Hi Guys,
Strange how Gary never mentioned the generous free drinks that all of you would be buying for new (Scottish?) LEC members!

John W - I generally stay between Dunkeld and Blairgowrie but often get over to Letham, Forfar.
On odd occasions I do get over to friends in Banchory - well within your territory.
When are you staying at Troutbeck? send a pm if you want to meet up.
Re Weather - It is always nice in the lake District - but remember:
No rain = No lakes = No Lake District
Seriously though - We have not had any frost warnings or salt on roads yet but it cannot be far away.

Nige, Thanks for advice - i've got my first problem already - flickering panel lights in sympathy with road surface/condition - but am already on a thread re this.
