Can somebody enlighten me please. I know I've read that there are places that the hood is prone to wearing through, and that there should be some kind of strips in place to prevent it, but I don't know where the weak points are, or what kind of materials should be used to protect the hood there. I have just noticed a couple of very small spots that seem to be wearing on mine. They are in the area about halfway between the Falling pillar and the rear window. Is this the area normally? Anybody got a pic of one wearing, or of the protective strips on their car?
Chris

I've not got pics, but what you describe sounds like the right spot. Its where the end of a piece of the frame pokes up as the roof folds. I've used a couple of layers of gaffer tape on the inside, which I replace annually and seems to do the job. TBH our car isn't used that much so the hood isn't up and down all the time. I think the gaffer tape solution would still work anyway, but would need more frequent replacement if you're regularly getting your top off!

And gluing on a piece of seat belt material is a good solution.

Even better if the pieces are

I posted up the trim tech manual for correct stowage procedure to stop this......
its easy........you tuck the sides in as you put the hood down....
I'll find out where it went and post it back on here
cheers

Interesting. The small spots I see are in a different area (see pic), and only visible from the inside so far.

Hi there, is that a picture of your hood? If so it has the wear marks just above the door! But again, i would suggest some seatbelt webbing would do the trick!

Not my car. I took that picture from the link Geoff posted above. I just wanted to show the area where I noticed some wear. Apparently, mine isn't wearing in the same area other have issues with. IIRC, there are actually strips of something on the inside of mine in the area where others have the problem above the rear corner of the door glass.

looks like your wear marks are due to the hood being trapped between the hood frame when closed.........
not sue what to suggest.....how do you think its happening?...
is it due to the movement of the hoodwhen down?...
my hood it well 'trapped' and doesnt move in teh slightest when the stowage lid is down.....
Im guessing that if your hood frame is vibrating then it might be rubbing when your moving...
just thoughts
cheers
