As you will know from Junk's thread LEC bought the heaters from him. Until they were picked up yesterday (thanks to Dave Eds) we didn't know exactly what we were getting and so did not formally offer them for sale. However we now know what we have, details below:
6 x A100P0068F RHD 4 position
9 x A100P0104F RHD 6 position
10 x A100P0069F LHD 4 position
8 x A100P0103F LHD 6 position
These are now available for sale to LEC members at £50 each, the price is based on a quote of £100 to have your existing heater recored. The money received will cover the LEC outlay and go to the LEC kitty which funds our site fees and also pitch fees at events such as Donington (now Malvern) and the like and will allow us to develop the LEC presence at these events. We do not expect to sell all of these quickly but they will be retained as a LEC asset against future needs.
From the previous thread the first potential takers for these are as follows:
1) Specky RHD
2) Jacko RHD
3) LGM LHD w/AC if poss
4) FYN RHD 6 position
5) DeeAitch RHD 6 position
6) Mikey Dude (not specified but assumed RHD)
These will be sold on a first come first served basis with the above list having first choice in order.
Would all who have indicated above that they would like a heater please post to confirm, (no worries if you don't, it's your call) in this new thread and PM Myself, Dave Eds and there's only on f in Geof Smith to sort out shipping details and payment method.

I will be at The Ace on Wednesday night, in Bracknell on Thursday, hopefully Oxford on Friday, then Southampton and Winchester on Saturday.
Just in case any one wants to meet en route for a heater!

Guys,
What are the issues with the Elan heaters that makes this so attractive?
Surely with quality coolant and regular changes there should be no corrosion or sludging issues, and unless you have a significant stray current issue, no electrolysis.
Although over the years I have had radiator issues, usually due to external damage, I have never had a heater core in any car fail. (1 heater fan in a Renault 17 Gordini did need occasional bearing lube..)
Please explain to the stupid Aussie.
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.

Hmmmm... well I have had a matrix fail

- in a spectacular fashion in my Escort Mexico

Not all of us are blessed with immaculate service histories on our Elans either. Given the vast amount of spares I own (what other people might regard as junk - and I include SWMBO in this) an extra heater matrix is but a drop in the ocean

I also had a heater matrix go in my old Escort, on a drive from Woking to Stranraer via Cardiff, in pouring rain... not fun at all. Ethylene glycol is not something you want misted into your face, and it's a bugger to get out of the carpets as it won't dry out like water!
So what's the difference between the 4 and 6 position units? What extra options do you get, and is it worth it (or possible?) to replace a 4 with a 6?

Am I right in thinking that the "4/6 position" option refers to the number of positions of the Airflow Distribution Control? If so, then I would like a RHD 6 position A100P0104F if it's still available please.

Can somebody explain what the "4/6 position" bit refers to?
- I have a fan speed switch which goes from 0 to 4
- I have a rotary switch showing where the heat gets directed
- I have a rotary variable heat output adjuster (blue to red) - this appears to be continuously variable - doesn't have stepped positions.
Thanks!
