CAMBELT PARTS

I am going to change my cambelt. The car (91SE) has done 31K miles and I doubt the belt has been changed.
I have looked at RockAuto and come up with the following:-
Belt Beck/Arnley 0260246 $20.79
W/Pump Dayco 84103 $41.79
Idler Pulley B/Arnley 0241150 $45.79
Tensioner Gates T41027 $50.79

These were shown for the 1991 Impuse RS. Can anyone who has done this please confirm that these are the right parts. I am going to the US in January and intend to get them whilst there, along with a heap of other stuff 'her indoors' will doubtless buy. It would be a pain to buy and bring back a wrong part.

It will take a while to cross-reference those, but they are all on here somewhere. If you've got them from Rock's Isuzu Impulse RS section, then they will be correct.
Remember to also include PAS & Alternator belts. . You need to be more careful with these as there are different lengths available.

All the part numbers are listed on Wiki http://wikilec.9600.org/index.php/Main_Page under said titles, but look at Belts section for the cambelt number. I am doing the same thing when I go to the US and i found out that the whole kit weighs approx. 3 kilos so make allowance in the luggage

so your list looks pretty similar....just the manufacturer that different

Many thanks for the swift responses. I now have a firm list and peace of mind.

My next trick will be to fit the Everest closed loop chip I have in the assumption that the extra power will have
no effect on the old cambelt. Keeping the revs as normal that is.

your belt bits will be fine.....more to the point how are your brakes



before I fitted my chip I did the brakes and exhaust......

I've had the car for 16 years. Having scared myself a number of times I quickly fitted EBC greenstuff pads and grooved disks.
I worked in various places abroad for the first 7 years and so have only done 16K miles in the 16 years.
I can lock the front wheels with a good push on the pedal. I may get AP's sometime in the future, if the Euro
exchange rate improves somewhat. It has gone from 1.6 to 1.1 in the 7 years since I retired here. My
pension hasn't kept pace.

I found a weird thing with Rockauto was that the postage changed a lot for different components. When I selected a cheaper water pump, the overall order cost increased! The one I picked was not the cheapest pump, but it gave the lowest overall order cost.

The shipping from RockAuto all depends on where the part is shipping from. I just placed an order this morning for 4 parts. It shipped from 2 different locations and I got charged twice for shipping. You may have ordered a pump that was shipping from a location further away.

I would of gave you some £££ for ordering double and could of saved even more on postage as I'm looking to order the same this month.

Next time I'm in NYC for more than a few days I'll probably order several sets to bring back for LEC people.
This time I'm having it delivered a friend's house, then he'll keep it for me until I'm next there or he's next here; ordering a large amount of stuff would have been a bit unfair.

Hello Everyone,
I need to change my timing belt (and the other belts, too)
And although I have read the WikiKEC, I must say I am quite nervous to order the wrong parts from rockauto ^^"
Here is what I believe is a proper set:

– Timing belt.
I found a timing belt kit (with water pump included): "DAYCO Part # WP169K1A" (here is the "more info" link: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=2455218 It seems the timing belt part number matches what the WikiLEC says \o/). On the other hand, the WikiLEC refers to the "BECK/ARNLEY Part # 1312115". Is that water pump a better alternative than the DAYCO one? Same question for the belt idler (WikiLEC refers to the "GATES Part # T42001") and for the belt tensioner (GATES Part # T41027): which one should I prefer?

– Aternator belt.
I may be wrong but it seems that only the "GATES Part # K040270" is available from rockauto. Still a straightforward choice I suppose?

– PAS belt (with air con)
When I am entering the "Isuzu part number 894362-7320" reference through the rockauto part search, it returns two entries. I guess these are actually the same belt?
As for the "DAYCO #6PK1045", it returns only one wich is 4 euros more expensive than the Isuzu. Is there any difference?
Same for the "Gates #K060415", it is the most expensive of the three PAS belts (1 euro more than the DAYCO).
Which one would you choose and why?

I have been looking for a comparison between Dayco, Gates and Goodyear belts on the Internet.
It seems that the Gates products might be the best alternative over Dayco and Goodyear.
(I had not noticed before, but the WikiLEC seems to advise to choose Gates material, too!)

Honestly, all three are reputable manufacturers. Their belts and hoses are on every US manfuctured car and they really are about equal. You don't have to worry about anything from them.

I am nearly ready to send my order now. One last question though. As for the PAS with AirCon belt, the WikiLEC says to order the "Gates K060415 => K section 6 ribs 41.5"". That id points to a Gates belt on rockauto.com but they say it is a "GATES Part # K060415 K06 13/16" x 42 1/8" Micro-V AT Premium OE V-Ribbed Belt". Is it the appropriate one?!
