I've seen the original Elan, Europa, Elise and Exige in Sprint/Gold Leaf colours (red over white, blue over white, yellow over white) but never seen the M100 in Sprint livery.
I'm convinced my Pacific Blue M100 would look great in Sprint colours along with black wheels and am seriously thinking about getting it done this winter. Has anyone seen it done or know of any photos?

There was a M100 in (loose description) 'Gold Leaf' Colours (red, white and gold) at Donington a couple of years ago. Whilst not criticising whoever had it done (it's their car) it was not to my taste

. I do not know of a M100 in an Elan Sprint scheme beyond that. Like you I think it could look good if well done, I suggest ypou try something in a programme such as paintshop to get a feel for how it would look. There is a clear dividing line I just have slight reservations about how the car would look as 2 tone. The JPS M100 (Paul P now GUK) and Sy's Stripey look very good indeed. Personally I've always preferred the Blue over white sprints to the red over white.

I don't think the M100 suits 2-tone in the style of the Sprint.
I think the upper & lower bodyside mould line is too high, so you would either have too much of the lower colour or a colour change well below the mould line.
I expect you've already thought about this for a while. If you still like the idea, then go for it. It's your car.

agree with rippers on this - for once. Just don't think the lines work for our car.
Like the idea but the reality is.......IMHO......... pants

Looking at the PhotoShop version on the above link I think it looks good in side view but the arse end doesn't work so well. In profile, I think it 'stretches' the lines out which is no bad thing with the M100 being so squat. There may be some way to lighten up the rear end with some matt black around the grille like the later Elises.
A copy of photoShop is now on my Christmas list.

Lotus produced this themselves and I think it looks fantastic. If the M100 looks this good its got to happen!

One problem is that you end up with a lot of white on the rear aspect.

You could maybe reduce the area of white in the back with a little mod to the color scheme. Maybe body color or black, just on the rear valance (only visible from behind). Something like this very, very rough photoshop job maybe. I know it's a crap photoshop job, but it's just to give the basic idea. I also know the purists won't like it, but I'm not trying to judge the value, just offer a possible suggestion for discussion.

If you do decide to do the paint scheme, I would do the rear valance conversion. At the very least the colour on the rear would be more ballanced. I would also carry the gold stripe slightly lower than in your Photoshop render. Instead of directly on the swage line I would start the gold at the line and go downward 2-2.5 cm. Similar to the exige.

Hi,
I agree the balance of the two tone will be all important, and I think for it to work a rear valance is a must.

Thanks for the photoshop pictures. I've been thinking of having the car painted in a couple of years. The question is, to go stock or a Sprint color scheme. In the back of my mind I know that every time I modify a Lotus a few years later I wish I had kept it stock.
