dont know what theyre like from an accuracy point of view or tech/use point either......presume they'll be 'do what is says on the tin' and they'll give you readings........
from an asthetic point of view I dont like em just because of that great big chuncky thing thats seems to stick half way across the gauge....colours, text, etc etc etc fine....I just dont see the point of the big blob.....its not like its holding the needle in... :shock:

as for fitting......if youve changed your dial faces for the MM or lockwood then you'll know how much of a pain the FBT are......its a case of taking the top binacle cover off then taking the dash face off....which is a wheel off....cowel off....etc etc etc..... :roll: ...just a pain but easy enough once youre in there.... :-D

no you cant just prose them out.....they have metal clamp fixings on the back which fix to the back of the dial and the indside face of the dash....... :? .....if you try to prise them out you'll destroy the gauge and the dash...... :oops:

FBT....yeah.....Fun Boy Three.....for as long as Ive know these 3 dials have always been called this......why I dunno.......(the boost, oil pressure and amps)...... :-D

the big chuncky thing is the big silver trapezoidal shape at the 3 o'clock position... :roll:

You don't have to pull the facia off but they are held in by a U shaped metal bracket. Another interesting side point, are they compatible with the VDO oil preassure sensors output resistance or do the come with their own sensor. Now that is a pain to change out. Not to sound like a broken record but the VDO gauges I used were pretty much plug and play for oil and amp. Only the mechanical boost gauge needed any special attention and that was easy to do. It also eliminated that big orange blob in the engine bay.

marie
youve obviously got the more gentile hand.....i had to unbolt the fascia so I could get my hand in behind....it was the only way I could get to the centre and furthest dial.........
also found it easier to get at the bulb holder/fixing...so as not to break it :)
cheers

Yes I think I have seen the light once again!!!

I just liked the idea of those swoosh ones because you can change the colour and in future I was hoping to remove all the red bits from dash and the rest!

I like that VDO gauge! Do they do one with Red numbers 0-1.5 BAR?
Answered my own question lol , how would I get the numbers to appear red? (open it up and red marker pen them?)

http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ ... MP1383221B
(eclipse gauges look very similar to the VDO ones and you have the option of having chrome bezels.) :)

VDO is this link - - - - ----> http://shop.xtra.lt/electronics/gauges/ ... ng=1&cur=1

this links quite good --- - - - -> http://www.online.print2net.co.uk/?id=m ... 9&page=229

Those other gauges all come with there own sensors too, which by the looks of it sounds like too much hassel to bother!

Maybe I will change all 3 in future but its not priority at moment!

Another big advatage of VDO other than they plug in and they're oem on almost all high end exotic cars.... They're not that expensive.

I only need the VDO or Eclipse boost/turbo gauge that goes up to 1.5 bar!

I am not going to do that crazy Garrett turbo upgrade, I am suprised no body has blown up there Engine yet!
Maybe in future I will think of Pushing the boost to 1.5 max not sure if stock turbo can manage that, and depends on if there is a chip available for that etc etc!

Still will be after those LGM pipes though next year (hint hint)

Do you know any links to sites where i can get one of those gauges cheap?

How do I make the writing red?

Just posted the spitfire one to show what they would look like with chrome bezels.

please can you tell me what I will need to do to install?

Turbo probably can, you would need new injectors & probably an engine rebuild. Sh4rk goes up to 1.4bar but Costas rarely pushed it this far. You would have more power than grip in most gears too :oops:
No chip, unless you buy a Haltech & have someone program it

Sod that lol

just spent a mint on it !

Suppose I shouldn't even think about getting a mbc to cheat the ecu then!

Maybe later, or I could just bodge the gauge to make it look like i was getting 1.5 lol

Cant even get it to perform properly at the moment hopefully RIP has got some tricks up his sleeve!

Note: If you are installing larger fuel injectors, there should be a limit to how large you can go before the stock ECU cannot scale-back the fuel delivery under idle. This could make the idle rough or cause the car to frequently stall. From personal experience, with 550cc/min injectors and a 3-bar MAP, my car idles just like stock. I have heard reports that up to 450cc/min injectors will work with the stock computer and no other modifications, but have never talked to anyone who has run their car this way as proof.

Just was thinking instead of going with 550cc go with 450cc and a chip to provide upto 1.5 Boost if that was possible and the chip was designed or just run with the Elysium and 450cc injectors!

Anybody run with 450cc injectors?
