Steve, truly sorry to hear the repairs don't appear to be possible. I hate to hear of an Elan going off the road, especially in America where there are so few. Hopefully the insurance will settle appropriately - there appears to be a beautiful example for sale in Virginia at the moment - with S2 wheels, no less.

Elanlover, thoughts of rebuilding my crippled beast surfaced this weekend.
May take you up on your offer to help source parts. Insurance again Tuesday 12-15-09.
When these cars are re-sprayed how do you get the ultra sleek water like look?
My M100 had original paint and it was beautiful.

A few months ago while looking for front end parts, I found a guy in AZ that ran a salvage yard that had a yellow Elan with parts for sale. Not sure if the rear end was intact or not. Let me know if you're interested and I'll see if I can dig up his info.

nsr 250, I appreciate your input. One side of me says part out the Elan and make
LEC'rs happy.

To actually scavenge the parts would hurt to no end.
Will keep posting on outcome.

I understand your feelings. Part of me says I should get it over with and part mine out but the driver in me wants to fix it. That and my son would be heart broken if I parted it.
I will tell you that the guy in AZ isn't too flexible on his salvaged car. I tried to get just the few parts I needed for the front end. He would only sell the entire front clip and the price was shockingly high. Perhaps his price would be better if you bought the whole car and parted the rest out recouping your investment. Who knows.
Anyway, keep us updated and don't let the insurance company send the car to the salvage yard. Plenty of good parts there.

Well, I wasn't stretching my own neck out - more the LEC community as a whole.

I suggest you get your list prepared and post it so people can point you in the right direction for parts. Hopefully, you'll be able to complete your shopping list.

Did you have another meeting with the insurance yesterday? How'd it go?

Here's a link to pics of my damage. It's really not all that bad except for the hood (bonnet) and the headlights.
http://picasaweb.google.com/dbgrubbs/Lo ... MeetsDeer#Send some pics of yours. I'm interested to see what kind of damage the truck did to you.

Wow. That's a lot of damage. It would be bad enough if the parts were readily available but knowing how hard they are to come by..............I'm not sure what to say.

Q. Sports Car Workshop near me has Lotus (7) frames.
If my M100 becomes parts car could it not also be donor for a Lotus 7.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

I need more pics to get an acurate idea of damage. Anything can be repaired and repaired well if you know how/who. Even if you were to find an EU rear upper it can be made to easily fit and be modified for Fed spec. Actually that's what Lorus did. The trunk will be tricky but not impossible. It's all just glassfibre after all. East to repair and work with assuming you know the tricks.

LGM, thanks for the response.
Very confused, settlement today 12-23-09.
Must pay $4,200 salvage value to keep.
Leaves me almost enough to buy another. The green one or the red one
NSR250 Don, you have PM.

LGM, Merry Xmas. Spent the day talking to glass body people.
No good, to much damage or not qualified and these are Corvette people.
Decision made North American Parts Car.
Would like some of the mods you have mentioned on my next Elan.
Roll hoops ect.
