I love the side ... the front is to much ... "just" to much ...
But nice idea! When do you get started?

M'mm

. Don't instictively dislike it overall but..............
Don't like the rear spoiler, don't like those particular wheels and don't see why it tries to give the impression that it's mid-engined when if it is an Elan it isn't. As a styling project and what a mid-engined car in the same genre as the Elan might look like today, then not so bad.
So how can we build a mid engined "Elan" ?

...a couple of side-mounted machine guns would finish it off nicely!

I think that the design proves what a good timeless design an Elan is.
Quite frankly, I think it's rubbish.
Where I live, you have to go on the verges at times, as the roads are narrow. Anything low at the front is a nightmare. Not once though has K9 WFF ever damaged anything there, except from stone chips.
What is almost unique about the Elan, is show it to someone who knows design, but doesn't know a Lotus from a Porsche and they will never think that the car was designed twenty years ago. A friend of my son, thought mine was just about five years old. Admittedly, it had just been cleaned and that yellow really shines!

It just needs a big chunky gold necklace to finish it off

Nice lights.
Horrid front under the bumper line.
Chavtastic wheels.

I don't really see a modernised Elan, just a completely different sports car over which I'd choose... an Elan.

I think there are elements there that work. I agree that the front and rear spoilers are over the top and the wheels are just too big and, as we know, the Lotus engineers just wouldn't do 'em that big.
But as an excercise in Photoshopping ideas to create a MaxPower Elean, it looks fun.
What are peoples thoughts on Lotus making a new Elan (again) or do you think that the Elise is the new Elan? Now I know there is some Elan/Elise needle at times, so this is not intended to be inciteful, I just wonder what the assembled experts think a 21st Century Elan would look like and is there a place in the current Lotus line-up?
Oooooh shiney!

I think the Evora is, or will be, what the Elan should have been (bar for a few factory cock ups).
The Elise is a go-kart with no plates (and I'm not being bitchy, just stating a fact), certainly was designed with a completely different demographic in mind to the Elan.

Well, pimp my ride. Never had you down as a boy racer or chav Gareth
The rear looks very Audi TT'ish, middle bits Ferrari and the front a mixture of Subaru meets Rover MG meets MaxPower.
Do you have a new job as a design engineer or just too much time on your hands

Actually, I quite like it in a funny sort of way - although the big mouth thing at the front is a bit OTT

Maybe it's a Simon Kushing design

Love it, Think it would look better with the original rear boot spoiler which i think would make it look more streamlined.

Looks too much like a Porsche for me.
I don't dislike it, I think it looks great but I like a Lotus to look like a Lotus.
